The Hillock family has known John since the 1970's when he worked at the Sportsman. My daughter Melody was coached by John and her cousin David Dolloff in playing softball for Portland High and they won the championship. My girls went on to college but John kept in touch with me. The last time I saw him was at Verrillo's and he showed me a picture of his son and I showed him a picture of my grandson. I will miss him. May God be with you in this time of grief.

I'm very sorry to hear of John's passing. I had lost contact with him for the last 15 years or so and didn't even know he was living in Florida. I met him in the mid 1970's when he dated my cousin and we became instant friends. He was a hard worker and would do just about anything for his friends, me included. He was also a man that never got a break in the years I knew him. My condolences to the family. He will be missed.
