WESTBROOK -- John Paul Tremblay, left this world to be with the Lord on Friday, March 2, 2012.
John Paul was born in Portland on June 24, 1927, the son of Romeo and Rebecca (Ouellette) Tremblay. He attended Portland schools and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked for Bailey Auto in Portland for several years, transferring to the Westbrook branch as store manager. In 1974 he opened Stultz Auto Supply in Westbrook and ran the business for many years until his retirement in 1988.
John Paul was a member of the Gorham Country Club for many years and was an avid golfer. He was an accomplished dancer and could be found on the dance floor swinging to his favorite tunes. You could always find him at Guidi's for breakfast exchanging friendly banter with his many friends. For over 50 years, John Paul was an active member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Westbrook where he served on the Altar.
He is survived by four daughters, Paula Green and her husband Peter of Westbrook, Susan Parmenter and her husband George of Standish, Diane Christy and her husband Kris of Windham, and Pamela Tremblay of Hampden; three grandsons, Ryan Mitchell, Jason Parmenter, and Isaac Anderson, three granddaughters, Erin Mitchell, Nyssa Parmenter, and Katie Swett; and a great-granddaughter, Chloe Van de Graaf.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Parish Church followed by a luncheon in the Church hall. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to thank his many friends at Longfellow Place for their care and support as well as the staff at VNA Hospice and the Barron Center for their exceptional care and guidance.
