Kimberly Leipold Obituary

Kimberly T. Leipold, 55
ELKTON, Md. - Kimberly T. Leipold, 55, of Elkton, Md., passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 14, 2014, the mother of five amazing children, and beloved wife. Kimberly was born on Aug. 1, 1959, in Portland, to Earle and Judy Pride.
She is survived by her husband Rick; children Krista and Mark Rosen, Erik and Stacia Thomas, Allison and Dave Giusti, Amy and Chris Nicholson, and Matt Leipold; five wonderful grandchildren; her parents Earle and Judy Pride; brother Kevin Pride, sister Khristine Scott; and aunt Norene Grover.
Kim was a registered nurse who worked in many fields, most recently in ophthalmology and as a hospice nurse. She had a great spiritual gift and story-telling ability that was a comfort to her hospice patients.
Born and raised in Yarmouth, she was a graduate of Yarmouth High School and the Mercy School of Nursing in Portland. Kim moved to Elkton, Md., in 2002 to escape the Maine winters. She was a mother first, spent a lifetime caring for and rescuing all types of animals, loved to play tennis with her husband and most recently, loved traveling in her fifth-wheel camper with her dogs to visit her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
There will be a celebration of her life on Aug. 1, at The Racket & Fitness Center, 2445 Congress St., Portland, from 2-5 p.m. At Kim's request, no black attire please!

I am honored to have know such a great lady! I worked with Kim at Compassionate Care Hospice. She was an excellent role model and mentor. I will never forget the value and compassion that she had for every person that cared for! Heaven is lucky to have her!
