Kyle St. Clair Obituary

SCARBOROUGH - Kyle William St. Clair, 8, of Scarborough, passed away on Jan. 8, 2013, at home, with his family and some special people by his side.
Born on Oct. 27, 2004, Kyle inspired thousands with his courageous battle against the odds and an undiagnosed disease.
The son of Mark and Kate (Warner) St. Clair, Kyle was born premature at Maine Medical Center, and attended Blue Point Primary School in Scarborough. Despite his illness, Kyle built solid friendships with many in his community and beyond – indeed, everywhere he went.
Kyle's most favorite times were spent with his family and friends at home, at his favorite spot on Sebago Lake, and other exciting places he visited. His trip to Give Kids the World and Disney, provided by Make-A-Wish, was especially memorable.
Daily, he enjoyed spending time with his big sister and little brother, having visitors, playing video games, watching You Tube videos on his iPad, reading books and playing Power Rangers and board games.
Kyle was proud that he was notably "popular" with his Team Kyle Facebook page that captured more than 11,000 "Likes" and which provided encouragement and support to his family as well as others around the country. Although he endured dozens of painful serious surgeries, countless arduous procedures and trips to the hospital, and huge amounts of daily pain, Kyle was always spreading love in how he lived. Family and friends couldn't leave his presence without giving and receiving an "I love you." His nightly bed time routine always included a "special kiss." Despite his short life, Kyle taught all around him how to live life for today and to appreciate the good moments we're given.
In addition to his parents, Kyle is survived by his sister, Alex, 11, two brothers, Jack, 6, and Lucas, 21; grandparents, William and Diane Warner of Gorham, and Roy C. St. Clair and Jeanie Demaree of Naples; and two great-grandparents, Leonard and June Johnson of Saco. He is predeceased by two grandmothers, Lyn (Warrick) Warner and Louise (Young) St. Clair.
Kyle and his family have also received incredible support from his aunts, uncles and cousins who always kept him in their thoughts and made his life exciting and fun.
Kyle's special girlfriend Erin, a beautiful and amazing little girl, showed him a love and childhood friendship that no one else could.
Kyle's special nurses, including Happy, Merydeth and Erica, were tireless in their devotion to his care. Two of them started caring for him during the first nine months of his life in the MMC NICU. Many dedicated doctors who worked with Kyle and MMC, at the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, Boston
Children's Hospital, and Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio were also very important to Kyle. Drs. Rebecca Cary, Kristen Haddon, Jeff Halter and Janice Dudley were especially attentive, and their care for Kyle went well beyond the typical doctor/ patient relationship.
Local and national businesses and organizations were amazing in their support to the Team Kyle Foundation, and its favorite beneficiaries. Kyle's family is thankful to Energy Armor, Angel Flights of NE, Portland Pie, Anjon's, The Scarborough Football Team and Boosters, The Scarborough High School Band, local neighborhood children who operated a lemonade and sweets stand, and the countless individual donors who supported Kyle throughout his life. Much of the money donated in Kyle's name has provided support to Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, The Robbie Foundation, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, Angel Flights of New England, March of Dimes Maine and many others.
Kyle's family also extends a special "thank you" to the Scarborough Police and Fire Departments for their support.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, at the St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Scarborough. Arrangements made by the Hobbs Funeral Home, 671 U.S. Route One, Scarborough. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hobbsfuneralhome.com.

Wow!

What a special and wonderful son, to whom you gave life. I am very impress-ed with what, who, and how Kyle touched many lives, and will continue to touch lives one would never dream possible.

You two, and your extended family were chosen especially by our loving God to raise this special child. From what I read, you truly gave him all things possible with God's help. How precious life is, and how wonderful our loving Father is.

I do realize the pain you are traveling through now. It will take time, and you need to allow yourselves time to grieve when, and where ever the feeling hits you.

Always remember that Kyle was loaned to you by God, and was claimed by God. I speak from experience, as my son who had a longer life than yours, was not unlike Kyle, who also touched many lives in his 24 years.

Mark, you may remember me, I was Roy's
third grade teacher.

I wish you courage, strength, comfort and God's peace, which passes all understanding.

Sincerely,

Christina Helson
