WESTBROOK - Ed Senechal, 87, of Westbrook, died on March 10, 2016 at The Cedars in Portland. Born on July 10, 1928, he was the son of Telesphore and Blanche Marie (LeBlond), who died when Ed was four, and the stepson of Rose (Leroux) Ed was married to Elizabeth Senechal for 63 years. Elizabeth predeceased Ed by nine months.
He served in the Air Force as a technical instructor for engine maintenance, and because he was fluent in French, he taught the subject to members of the French Air Force. He received his Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Maine, Orono, in 1959. He was employed for many years at the S.D. Warren Company focusing on specialty papers. He later owned SNV Cleaners until his retirement. He was active until his stroke in 2014 in the American Legion Post #62, serving as Commander in 2010. He was an avid gardener, and loved writing poetry and hymns.
He is survived by his three children, Mary Senechal (Hamilton Throckmorton) of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Marc Senechal of Standish, and Michael Senechal of Gorham; two grandsons, Alexander Senechal Throckmorton (Cynthia) of Columbus, Ohio, and Taylor Senechal Throckmorton of Naperville, Ill; a brother, Paul Senechal of Buxton; and many cousins, nieces and nephews across the country and Canada. He was predeceased by two brothers, Maurice and Raymond and a sister, Irene Boucher.
A service of remembrance will be held in July.
