Lawrence W. Flash Allen Sr.
     LEWISTON -- Lawrence W. Flash Allen Sr., of Auburn, formerly of Jay, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at CMMC, Lewiston.
     He was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Farmington, the son of Roger and Susie (Grant) Allen. He was the valedictorian of the Jay High School Class of 1945. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army and reenlisted in the Air Force, serving as a medic. He was employed by International Paper Co. for 37
    years.
     He is survived by his wife, Gladys (Knox) Allen of Auburn; four sons, Larry Flash Allen Jr. and his wife Tina of Portland, Barry M. Allen and his wife Dennise D. Whitley-Allen of Norway, David B. Allen and his wife, Bonnie of Mexico and Christopher L. Allen and his wife Betty of Auburn, with whom he made his home; two sisters, Janet Diaz of Turner and Pauline Duguay and her husband Edmond of Livermore and Florida, a brother, Lt. Col., Harold Grant of Virginia Beach and Fort Myers, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Dube of Jay, sister-in-law, Geneva Knox Breakfield of South China; four grandsons, Daemian Allen and Shannon Allen of Portland, Micah Allen of Dover, N.H., and David J. Allen of Mexico, a granddaughter, Sarah Allen of Farmington; two step granddaughters, a step grandson, two step-great-grandsons, two step great-granddaughters; a step great-great-granddaughter and step great-great-grandson. He was predecease by a brother, Linwood Allen, a sister, Maxine Dube and an infant twin brother.
     A remembrance service, honoring his life, will be held Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. from the Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Rd., (Rte. 133), with the Rev. Mark Pearson of Portland officiating. Following services, all are invited to attend a family reception at the Lane-Dube AMVETS Hall, Rt. 4, Jay. Spring burial at Lakeview Cemetery, Wilton.
