Lloyd Parker Obituary

Lloyd Allen Bump Parker, 71
PORTLAND -- Lloyd Allen Bump Parker, 71, of Raymond passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007.
He was born on Feb. 11, 1936, in Portland a son of the late Lewis and Mary (Calder) Parker. He was raised on Chebeague Island where he graduated from High School as the valedictorian. He praised Mildred Johnson his teacher for his success in high school.
Mr. Parker was enlisted in the National Guard from 1956 through 1966 as a medic specialist. He worked for 22 years in the Portland Fire Department retiring as Captain on March 2, 1982. The following day he began a new job as a fireguard and later a fire inspector for Bath Iron Works before retiring in 1999.
Bump never met a fish he didn't like. The only thing he loved more than being active and outdoors hunting, fishing, camping and golfing was spending time with his family.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Loretta (Hamilton) Parker of Raymond; two children, one son Lloyd Allen Parker Jr. and his wife Lisa of Raymond, and one daughter, Leslie Parker Toderico and her husband Michael of Gray. He was blessed with five grandchildren, Michael and Mark Toderico, Taylor, Cory and Jordan Parker; one brother, Douglas Parker of Swansville; and three sisters, Elizabeth Robinson of Bangor, Caroline Parker of Bangor and Janette Leighton of Belfast. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Walter and Neil Parker.
Lloyd Allen Parker was a genuinely nice man. For those of us who loved him, he will be sorely missed.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 28, from 3-6 at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 1, at 11 a.m. at Central Square Baptist Church, 466 Stevens Ave, Portland. Interment will follow in Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland

Shant was my Uncle and I will miss him dearly. I hope that heaven is fully stocked with peanut butter! Uncle Shant was kind and friendly and always told great stories and made me and my sister laugh. I know that him and my Dad are together now hunting, fishing and telling stories. I miss both of them more than either of them will ever know. Aunt Loretta I love you and my prayers are will you.

Lloyd was my uncle. I did not get to know him very well but I have heard alot about him and I know that I am going to miss him so much. I have heard some of the stories about his fishing and hunting but I never heard them from him so they were probably not as good as he told them. I will miss him so much.

Lloyd was my uncle. He was a very caring and giving man. I wish I could have spent more time with him. I loved to listen to his stories. His eyes would twinkle when he told them. Lloyd Parker was my uncle. I will always remember him especially when I hear fishing and hunting stories. I realy wish that I could have spent more time to get to know him. One thing that will always stay with me is how much he loved everyone and every living thing no matter what it was. We are all going to miss him so much and he'll forever be in our hearts.

Lloyd was my big brother, he was always there when I needed him. My only regret is that I didn't get to know him better. I will miss him, and the hunting stories.

Shant was quite a character. When I was very young, I would go to His and Loretta's home on vacations. He took me to a rodeo at Deering Oaks. He bought me some cotton candy and we sat on the bleachers waiting for the show to start, which started with bullrides. The cowboy fell off and the bull broke through the fence and headed up Brighton Ave. I was a memory that I will never forget.
He will be truly missed by my family.

Shant was not only my brother-in-law, but a great friend. He will be missed more than anyone knows, by Bob and I. We have had him and Loretta with us in Fla in the winter for a few years now and was strange not to have him here this year. We have lost our gambling partner on the Big M Casino, a boat out of Ft. Myers, that he loved to go out on,We will miss you Shant.

LLoyd was truly an honorable and decent man. I admired him for hundreds of reasons. He was one of the best story tellers I have ever met and, one of the worst joke tellers. He would often start laughing in the middle of the joke he was trying to tell and most of the time couldn't finish it. He was kind and compassionate and loving. I will truly miss him. I considered him one of the finest christian men I have ever met.
