Marcel Angers Obituary

Marcel C. Angers, 87
OLD ORCHARD BEACH - Marcel C. Angers, 87, of Old Orchard Beach, died peacefully and with dignity at his home on Monday, July 18, 2016.
Mark was a devoted husband and father. He was born in Bristol, Conn., on March 13, 1929. He attended Bristol High School and graduated in 1947. He later attended the University of Connecticut and graduated in 1953, receiving his Bachelor's of Arts in education. He later earned his master's degree in education from the University of Hartford in 1959. He served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed in Korea after the signing of the Armistice.
He started his career in education as a teacher in Bristol, and later moved to Maine in 1968 where he worked in the Portland school system as an administrator. His last job was at Biddeford High School where he developed and supervised the in-school suspension program. Mark touched the lives of so many students who truly admired and respected him.
He also worked many years at the Old Orchard Beach Chamber of Commerce and spent many summers working on the beach as a lifeguard. He loved his work so much that he waited until he was 80 years old before he retired.
Marcel was predeceased by his parents, Lucian and Malvina Angers.
He is survived by his wife, Freda Angers; his son, Stewart and his wife Chantal; his sister, Jeannine Kallberg; his brother, Gilles Angers; his sister-in-law, Faye Morse, and his brother-in-law, John Chapin. He also is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family wishes to thank the doctors of Intermed, visiting nurses and Hospice of Southern Maine.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 22, from 5-9 p.m. at the Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home. A funeral will be held at St. Margaret's Church on Saturday, July 23, at 11 a.m.

Freda and Stew, I have such great memories of Marc. My time at the house on the beach was one of the best and happiest of my life. Our family reunion held there has continued to be a great memory for all of us. And you are all so much a part of that period in my life. He was a good, kind, generous and hard-working man, and I know he passed those characteristics on to you, Stew. That's a great legacy. Paula and I will keep all of you in our prayers. . . Marc's already in Heaven!
Lots of love.
