WINDHAM -- Margaret E. Doody Cote, 81, of Running Brook Road, died on May 23, 2011, at home after a short illness.
Born in South Portland on Sept. 27, 1929, she was the oldest of four children born to Phillip H. and Helen S. (Bowley) Gower. Margaret was raised and educated in Scarborough and was a graduate of Scarborough High School, class of 1948.
She married Edward Doody in 1949; he predeceased her on July 25, 1965. In December 1966, Margaret married Raymond E. Cote; he predeceased her on April 12, 2007.
A home-maker all of her adult life, Margaret opened her home to any one in need of meal, shower or a warm bed to sleep in. She always had a house full of family and friends; together they enjoyed lots of love and laughter sharing good food and spirits.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
Beside her first and second husbands, Margaret was also predeceased by her parents; and two brothers, Raymond and Richard Gower. Survivors include her five children, Irene Doody LeClaire and her husband Bruce of Windham, Fred Doody and his wife Rita of Scarborough, Glen Cote Sr. of Westbrook, LeeAnn Cote and her husband Bryan Calnan of Windham and Jo Ann Cook of Marathon, Fla.; one brother, Donald Gower and his wife Charlotte of Scarborough; six grandchildren, Angela Doody Abbott, Glen Cote Jr., Josh Cote, Renee LeClaire, David LeClaire and Riley Young; and two great- grandchildren, Conner McPhie and Lilly Cote.
A period of visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, from 5 until 6 p.m., at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham, followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. For online condolences, please visit our web site at www.dolbyfuneralchapels.com.
