Michael Haskell Obituary

Michael Thomas Haskell, 72
BUXTON - Michael Thomas Haskell, 72, of Buxton, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at St. Joseph's Rehabilitation and Residence in Portland. He was born on April 7, 1945, in Portland, as the son of Bernard and Ann (Wilbur) Haskell. Michael grew up on Elmwood Street in Portland and was the only altar boy in his family; he graduated Deering High School in 1963.
On April 30, 1966, he married the love of his life, Sandy (MacKenzie) Haskell. Together they raised one beautiful daughter and shared 30 years together before her passing.
Michael was a "horseman;" he was a horse owner and trainer, and was involved in horse racing. He owned Mike Haskell Stables at Scarborough Downs. This was a family passion he especially shared with his late brother, Buddy, and with their father. His other passion included spending time with his family at their camp on Sebago Lake. In 2004, Michael married his second wife, Laurel Haskell, and they enjoyed four years together before her passing.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Marilyn Haskell; and oldest brother, Buddy Haskell. He is survived by one daughter, Virginia Titzer, and her husband John, of Fort Branch, Ind.; three granddaughters, Jessica, Tabitha, and Tauni; brothers, Frank and wife Loretta, and Patrick and wife Jennifer; sister, Deborah, and husband Danny Dale; and sister-and-law, Missy. He loved and cherished his nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to Scarborough Downs on Sunday, July 23, at 1:30 p.m. to honor his memory. To share a memory or condolence, please visit: www.coastalcremationservices.com.

Mike, I was blessed to have you as my brother in law. In my heart you'll stay until we meet again someday. Rest in Peace.

I have many fond memories of my cousin, Mike. There were fun times at Nana and Grampa's place on BonneyEagle Lake, Playing cards with Grampa and playing 1-2-3 Relieve-O or kick the can, with my sister, Cindy, and cousins, Frankie, and Buddy. Later, I was always proud to get a dance in with him at the Westbrook Armory. My friends thought he was pretty cute. I was honored to be chosen godmother to his daughter. He was the "official" bartender at my wedding 44 years ago today. As adults, our paths never crossed, but these special times have never left my heart. i know that it was a difficult end to his life here, but I trust the Lord will welcome him to his heavenly home. Rest in Peace cuz!
