Orina A. Manghis, 102
DOVER, N.H. -- Orina A. Manghis, 102, formerly of Waldron Towers, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at the Rochester Manor.
She was born in Lowell, Mass., on Dec. 21, 1908, the daughter of Henry and Agnes (Bernier) Chretien and resided in Dover, N.H., from 1943 to 1966. She moved to Salisbury, Mass., and returned to Dover in 1993. She was a former employee of Clarostat Manufacturing Co.
She was an avid knitter and made many mittens and hats for the Salvation Army and afghans for babies with AIDS and un-wed mothers as well as knitting many lap-robes for Veterans. She also traveled extensively, was an avid reader and loved to play BINGO.
She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Gagnon of Somersworth, N.H., and Lorraine McHugh of Rochester, N.H.; grandchildren, Donna and Susan Abraham of South Portland, Paul Abraham of Marina del Rey, Calif., Jane and Larry Williams of Windham, Elenor Gitschier of Dover, N.H., Peter Gitschier and Donna Bolstridge of Berwick, Kimberly Boston of Rochester, N.H., and Shawn McKay; and great-grandchildren, Jennifer Boston, Nicole and John Burke, Mathew Bolstridge, Megan Gitschier and Haley and Elijah Williams. She also leaves two brothers, William and Roland Chretien, and a sister, Shirley Allard, all of Salisbury, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two husbands, Peter Kuchulis and John Manghis; her daughters, Pauline Abraham and Doris Maty; and her siblings, Arthur Chretien, Frances Hoare, Claire Gentile, Theresa Fowler and Agnes Nelson.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the wonderful staff at the Rochester Manor for the tender loving care given to our mother.
Friends may call on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover, N.H., followed by Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 11 a.m. at the Parish of the Assumption, St. Mary Church, corner of Chestnut and Third Streets, Dover.
