I was an USAF captain coming to the staff of the Pacific Command and Pete was a lieutenant commander at the time. We both served on the J2 intelligence staff. Pete and I became very good friends. I recall vividly how Pete would share his experiences on patrol boats in Vietnam, the "Brown Water" Navy. I believe those times took a great toll on him because of the many firefights and lost comrades. Hw as a superior officer and role model.

Sorry to hear of the passing of CAPT Huchthausen. Served with him in London, England 1971-73 timeframe with US Naval Forces, Europe. He taught me a lot about the Soviet Navy threat at that time.

Peter was a friend from Seaglass Performing Arts Chorale. We traveled to Europe on a singing tour together, climbed Mt. Katahdin in Maine and shared other events, including those related to his writing. I had hoped to visit him one day in Amfreville, France. My thoughts and best wishes are with his family and with Kathy.

I add my sympathies and condolences to the friends and loved
ones of Capt. Peter Huchthausen. I served with LTJG Huchthausen aboard USS Blandy 1962 and 63. Always the gentleman and friend to all. All Navy and all Academy as well as a much respected shipmate.

Peter and I were shipmates and friends. Over the years we communicated infrequently but always with wonderful memories and the feeling that our time together was very special. This often happens in life when one meets really fine individuals. Peter will be missed.

Peter was a shipmate on the USS Blandy. We stood many watches together and spent many memorable moments as green Navy officers trying to apply our education and instructions while getting our “sea legs” of life under us. We learned a lot together.
