Richard DuPont Obituary

Richard R.
DuPont, Sr, 95
KENNEBUNK -- Richard R. DuPont, Sr., 95, of Kennebunk, died Saturday evening, Dec. 7, 2013 at Kennebunk Center for Health and Rehabilitation. Born in Worcester, Mass. on May 3, 1918, a son of Eli and Florence (Brennan) DuPont, he graduated from Commerce High School, and attended Northeastern University.
On June 21, 1947, he married the former Goldie G. Ramsey. They shared 60 wonderful years together until her death in 2007.
Richard (Dick) was a sales representative for Mogul Corporation, specializing in industrial water treatment. The corporation then became Dexter Corporation (now Invitrogen), from where he retired in 1983.
Following his retirement, Dick and Goldie moved to Maine. In 60 years of marriage, they were rarely, if ever, apart from each other; they literally did everything together, from crafts, traveling, walking the beaches, exploring small shops, and having breakfast together at several venues. Dick enjoyed woodworking in his basement shop, making furniture and other items. Goldie would complete his projects by adding her artistic talents. When not woodworking, Dick always had a 'do-it-yourself' project going on around the home.
While living in Massachusetts, he was very active in Worcester Toastmasters #1193, where he was president and Toastmaster of the Year in 1965. He was also an active member of the National Association of Power Engineers, Chapter 32, in Worcester.
In addition to his loving wife Goldie, he was predeceased by a son, Randall S. DuPont, and his brother, Paul DuPont.
Richard is survived by two sons, Richard R. DuPont, Jr. and wife Gail of Kennebunk, Wayne R. DuPont and wife Gail of Boylston, Mass.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude and thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at Kennebunk Center for Health and Rehabilitation for their compassionate and loving care of Richard during his final days.
Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013 from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk. A Memorial Service is being planned at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, (Route 122A), Holden, Mass. Date and time will be announced. Arrangements are in care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, Kennebunk. www.bibberfuneral.com

To the DuPont family,
We are saddened by your Dad's passing. Whenever we stopped to see him he always talked about his"boys".He was extremely proud of his family. When we were neighbors we enjoyed talking with him and your Mom.They took pride in their home and liked seeing us out working in the yard. I looked up to see if he had passed because my neighbor said somebody came asking for us and said his Dad had passed away. Our sincere thanks for trying to inform us.
Loving wishes, Bobby and Carolyn
