Richard Karnes Obituary

Celebrating the Life of
    Richard P. Karnes
    Shaggy
    1985 - 2007
WESTBROOK -- His journey ended unexpectedly, but peacefully, on Monday, May 16, 2007. His spirit has returned to be with his Father in Heaven. We pray he will become a voice speaking from the grave to all those who are battling the addictions of this world; and that the reality of his death may save someone else's son, daughter, brother, sister or friend. We will never forget the joy he brought to those who got to know him.
He will be greatly missed by his mother, Linda Meier Karnes and her friend Marek Kwasnik; his sister, Wendy Karnes and her children; his sister Heather and her husband Alex Fenderson and their children; his adoptive fathers, Tom and Ted; his father Gilbert Karnes; as well as a large extended family and friends. May he rest in Peace.
A time of visitation and consolation will be on Monday, May 21, 2007, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth. The funeral service will then follow 1 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Yarmouth and a reception after the committal will be held at 55 Merrill Rd., Falmouth.

A Message in the Wind!

Don't look for me, I am not there.
The angels have carried me home.
My battle is over! I am no longer bound!
I am FREE for an eternity.
Hear my voice calling out to you in the night.
Saying come unto me and I will give you rest.
I AM THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE!
I made it, now it's your turn.
Don't cry for me, for I know no sorrow or pain.
The tears I cry now are tears of joy,
Knowing that I was ready to meet my maker.
He has said unto me,
Well done thou good and faithful
servant you may enter in.
I am HIS Child and He knows my name!
Consider the thief hanging on the cross.
What did he have to offer Jesus?
What was he wearing?
How many good deeds could he achieve hanging on that cross?
He gained paradise because He recognized Jesus as Lord!
There is so much that you need to learn and to tell others!
Spread the true word of God!
Let go of all those things that don't
matter when you are looking at eternity!
I will love you now and forever!
Never Goodbye, instead it's till we meet again!

I only knew him as "Shaggy" and only for a few brief months at the house we lived in together on Mellen St. in Portland, but Richard always had a smile on his face and kind words for everyone he came in contact with... my heart goes out to his family. Richard, you will be missed by many... Rest In Peace Friend

I will sorely miss you Richard. You were loved by my 4 yr old son who looks so much like you when he's sleeping. He'll always be a reminder of all the good things about you. God be with you 'till we meet again.

To Richard's Family: I never met Richard, but I do have a daughter with an addiction and I want you to know that I feel your pain and my heart is broken that you have lost your son, especially to such a merciless predator. I want to say the right words to ease your pain, but I know there are none. If you can concentrate on the happy times, maybe, in time, the light will shine through once again. I am so very sorry for your loss.
