Robert Hersey Obituary

Robert "Brad"
Hersey, 75
GRAY - Robert Hersey lost his battle with kidney disease on Sept. 3, 2018 at his home. He was born Dec. 4, 1942 in Boston, Mass., son of the late Robert H. and Mary E. (Grant) Hersey. He grew up moving between Mass. and Maine. He graduated from Deering High School and Bentley College. He was a staff accountant at Maine Medical Center for nearly 40 years, retiring to spend time with his beloved grandchildren and to be involved with their activities and sports.
In July of 1971 he married the former Nancy Farr of West Paris and they have a daughter, Merredith.
He enjoyed many hobbies over the years, square dancing (where he met his future wife) vegetable gardening, home brewing, going on cruises, bowling, mentoring youth bowling, watching and coaching youth soccer and in later years, collecting wines from the wineries around New England. His greatest love was his family and particularly his four grandchildren. He was very involved in his church, serving in many capacities over the years and he also served nine years on the Gray Planning Board.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Gray; daughter, Merredith and companion, Vincent Pike Jr., also of Gray; Alexa Stigman of Waterville, Emily, Taylor, and Robert Pike all of Gray. Four siblings, DonnaLee Phillips of Eureka, Calif., James and wife, Linda, of Waldorf, Md., Susan and husband, Ray Laffely, of Windham, and Stephen and his wife, Robin Esterberg, of Waltham, Mass.; several nieces and nephews; an aunt, Evelyn Keegan of Texas; and many cousins.
A Celebration of his life will be held at St. Ann's Episcopal Church, 40 Windham Center Road in Windham on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 12 p.m.

Another year has come and gone, but I still have times I turn to tell you something before I remember that you are here in spirit, no longer in body. But that you probably already know what I was going to say.

Well Bumpa, we are coming up on the 5 year anniversary of the day you went away. It just does not seem possible. Much has changed, yet much remains the same. Keep watch over the great grands, you never got to meet them, but I know you see them.
