Dear Marcia and family,
"The measure of a man, not how did he die, but how did he live. Not what did he gain, but what did he give? Those are the units to measure the worth of a man,and man regardless of birth".
Rocco's love and dedication to our dear Marcia and family was always superior. A kind soul who was admired by so many for his love, honesty, integrity, generosity and passion for his faith.
Our hearts are heavy with sympathy, and we are very sorry for your loss. May all of your fond memories of Rocco help you find peace. God bless you all.

To Marcia, Rocky, Billy, Mark and Leanne ....There aren't enough words to say how much Rocky has meant to the Dobson family. Our connection was born decades ago, and the years have brought only deepened personal and professional closeness with both he and Marcia. I grew up on the outskirts of their family, admiring their deep closeness. I started my property management career by being advised by them. I vacationed in their world, with my parents, and enjoyed the spray of the sea with them. I was the grateful beneficiary of Rocky's advice upon the death of my aunts husband. I, and my family, would have been lost without his partnership, compassion and strength during my father's final weeks and hours. I started my marriage on the arm of dads dear friend, Rocky. They were two-of-a-kind in many ways, and it was fun to see them do their dance together! Many other members of my family have likewise been blessed by Rocky's wisdom, guidance, generosity and just plain friendship. We love you Marcia, and our hearts are with you.

“Remembering Roccy Risbara”
We were among the “many” to whom Roccy was “friend and mentor”. As employees of Titcomb Associates, we surveyed subdivisions, condo projects, and innumerable houselots for Roccy during the boom years of the 1980s.
It was an odd partnership, in some ways … two college boys, working for a graduate of the School of Hard Knocks . … but it worked.
Our differences surfaced on day one at the corner of Regan Lane and Northwoods Drive. We had plans, lots of plans, but the numbers simply didn't work. As we struggled to match vertical and horizontal curves, Roccy traced a line in the dirt with his toe.
“Blend it!” he said.
We soon became friends. Probably this began one Saturday morning on Willowdale Drive, where the entire Risbara clan was busy clearing a lot for Billy. Every piece of equipment they owned was running at full throttle, and we were invited to lay out a house in the middle of it all.
Working for Roccy was not like working for other developers. Typically, we would arrive with a roll of plans and a sheaf of “comps” -- a computer's-eye-view of the project. Rocky would grab the plan and say, “Flip it, spin it, and put it in the hole!”
All the while, a backhoe was pawing the ground and a foundation crew was waiting to go to work. We soon learned to get it right and get it right quickly.
Roccy did not suffer fools gladly. One day, we showed up with another surveyor, who had the misfortune to make a mistake on his first day. Confronted with the problem, he laughed nervously. He never worked for Roccy again.
But Roccy was not all bluster. Once, our Ford Escort got mired in the mud at Whistler Landing. We tried to tow it out with a piece of ½” line, which of course snapped immediately. “I never saw my father laugh harder,” said Roccy III. And then Roccy towed us out.
The business prospered, but it was always more than a business. Roccy's pride in his family was palpable, and as we got to know Marcia, Roccy III, Billy, Mark, and Leanne, we understood why.
Gradually, “the boys” took over day-to-day control of the operation, but Roccy was never far away. Long after he should have retired to an office, he was still on the job site, doing his best to make water run downhill. “That's not wetland,” he would say. “That's undrained soil!”
Roccy dressed for work. You could always tell how cold it was by counting the number of shammy shirts he wore. We saw as many as five. After working together for fifteen years, we grew closer. We discussed the meaning of life over a bulldozer blade. We got useless in Eustis.
Later, the economy soured and we all moved on. We always meant to go back and take him out for a long lunch, but it never happened, probably because you couldn't imagine Roccy sitting still for a long lunch.
Still, 20 years later, not a day goes by that we don't think of him.

Rocco was one of a kind...determined, generous, kind...somewhat opinionated at times! I will always treasure hanging around with him and the boys in Eustis. Rocco lived his life true to his values..work hard, family first, and best of all , enjoy the moment. One of a kind...this was a man who defined integrity.

Roccy III asked me to post this tribute:
Rocco was one of the first of our firm's client I was introduced to when I started my law practice in 1970. He was 2 days other than my brother Dave who was born March 31, 1943. In time, Roccy and I developed a friendship that went way beyond lawyer-client and a cordial acquaintanceship. He was like a brother to me.
Our backgrounds were so very different and at times he liked to needle me by saying “I didn't go to Harvard but I know how to start a car” or some similar jab.
When Roccy's and Marcia's children were young we started to be included in family gatherings and I came to know his early employees who were more than just employees – the early ones who came to mind were Norma Buffam and of course the incomparable Charlie Belanger.
As the boys grew, they became involved with the business and were able to complement each other with their different and disparate skills. Often that is difficult in a family business. With Roccy's guidance and Marcia's wise counsel, the business thrived. Many times I would spend an afternoon or an entire day with Rocco. At about the time I was pursuing my dream of developing my camp in Lovell, Roccy and I spent a day scanning the countryside in Eustis and then went to talk to the bank officer who dealt with the Strunks. I could tell he was smitten with pulling it off to have his place on Eustis Ridge.
To describe and properly portray Roccy's world, one must recognize that life's journey was so much about Roccy and Marcia (Marcia especially) and their love of family and friends as any single milestone. When my youngest daughter Whitney was born, we asked Marcia and Roccy to be her godparents and they readily accepted. When Whitney became engaged to her husband Adam Cromie, the first people she sought out in Maine to meet him were Roccy and Marcia.
I never asked, but I am sure there are many others for whom Roccy and Marcia served as godparents. Their marriage and devoted relationship are awe inspiring to their children, grandchildren and all of us. The challenges they have faced in the twilight of their marriage should never diminish the way in which they enriched the lives of so many for so long. I remember when I faced a life threatening cancer some 12 years ago, I told my son that If I didn't lick this thing, I just wanted to be remembered as a good guy, a good dad and a good grandfather. Roccy was all of those things and more. My life has certainly been enriched beyond measure by our friendship. So on this St. Patrick's Day in 2014, I am staying at home and thinking of Rocco and his family with the thought of “safe passage my friends”.

Reading all of the entries before adding mine.. I can see everyone else feels the same way for Roccy and the whole Risbara family, as I do. He was a very special man who always had time to listen and to offer words of wisdom. His love for his wife, children, and grandchildren radiated from him. There are very few people in this world that were as caring as Roccy. The stars will be shining just a bit brighter tonight with this amazing man's journey to heaven. I will miss this dear, sweet man so much.

What I remember about Roccy....
Him showing up with tractors and making something enjoyable out of nothing.
The stories of our family members most of which made you laugh.
Teaching us the things he knew...like how to drive a boat and anything with a motor.
Giving you help when you needed it and even when you didn't know you needed it.
Bringing people together in good times. When they were not so good he would lend you a listening ear then chat a lot in yours.
The advise he gave...some that you may not have wanted to hear but may have needed to hear.
Big Hugs, lots of Love, a Smile and a Big Laugh.
I believe he is with all of his passed loved ones looking down on us and saying..."Good job or you may want to think about that, but you know I love you."
I am going to miss you Roccy and to the rest of the family and his friends my hearts love and prayers are going out to all of you.
