Susan Vieira Obituary
NEW GLOUCESTER - Susan J. (Bracci) Vieira, beloved wife and devoted mother, 73, of New Gloucester, and formerly of Bradford, Massachusetts, peacefully passed away on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. Susan was born in Haverhill, Mass., to the late Delphio and Cecile (Caron) Bracci, and grew up in Bradford, Mass.
Susan was a gifted and awarded graphic designer and fine artist. She graduated with honors from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, where she was the recipient of the Clarissa Bartlett Traveling Fellowship to Europe, as well as the Bolt Technical Painting award in egg tempera.
Among the many professional awards she received, she won the "Best in Show" award in the Boston Art Director's show for corporate identity. She also created logos for Giant department stores, Bank of New Hampshire, New Hampshire College, Brookfield ice skates, Liberty Tree Mall, Hendries ice cream and many more.
After moving to Maine, Susan started two businesses: Greeting from Maine, and later the Lower Village Artworks gallery in her home. Both featured Susan's love for painting scenes depicting Maine's country life and changing seasons on Shaker-style wooden boxes, as well as artwork commissioned throughout her life.
Susan is survived by her loving husband, Richard; her daughters, Jennifer Turgeon, of Portland; and Whitney Wall and her husband Craig, of Winthrop, Mass.; and her two adoring grandsons, Noah and Matthew. Susan also is survived by her sister Jeanne Rich, of Hilton Head, S.C.; and brother Peter Bracci, of Plaistow, N.H.
Susan will always be remembered for her creativity, kindness, gener-osity, love of animals and rich sense of humor. Her family extends their sincere gratitude to everyone involved in Susan's compassionate care and support.
A memorial service will be held in the spring to celebrate her life and her artwork.
