PORTLAND -- Thomas J. Mulkern 51, of Casco St., Portland, passed away on Feb. 18, 2010, at his sister's home surrounded by his family after a long battle with Lung Disease.
Born Sept 19,1958 in Portland, the son of Francis Sr (Predeceased) and Joanne. He is survived by three children Thomas, Jon, and Lisa; one grandson, Xavier; his four brothers, Francis Jr, John, Peter, and James, three sisters, Anne Marie, Teresa and Joanne.
Thomas attended St Dominic's school and Portland High School. He was a long time auto body technician. He always loved working on vehicles. Thomas was an avid sports fan and loved to play basketball and pool. Family meant a lot to Thomas and he enjoyed playing with his nieces and nephews. He loved pets especially Dogs. As a child and young adult he always brought home stray dogs.
Visitations will be held at the Chapel of Independent Death Care, 471 Deering Ave., Portland, on Sunday, Feb 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Feb 22, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, 1461 Broadway, South Portland immediately after the funeral services. Arrangements are under the guidance of Independent Death Care, 471 Deering Avenue, Portland.

Tommy was one of my friends when we were teenagers and I remember him fondly. I regret not seeing Tommy in many years and will keep him and his family in my prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Tommy and I had many great times hanging back in our childhood Days. Our families go back for many years. My mother loved him I know she was there to meet him with the rest of our loved ones who have passed.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you, I just found out about Tommy and am deeply saddened. The last time I saw Tommy was over a year ago and although we would only run into eachother on occassion it was always a Big Hug and conversation.. My thoughts and prayers are w| the family. My father, I miss you already. I can't express in enough words what a wonderful man you were. What a wonderful father you tried to be. You took me when I was 8 months old, and now you're gone and I'm 32. You'll never be forgotten by I & Britney, Amber and Mike. I remember when you use to stand at Child World for six hours, for my Cabbage Patch kids. And I remember when you fell down at Roller Skating, and your teeth flew across the floor and you broke your arm; I wanted you take me home!
