Timothy Costa Obituary

Timothy Frank Costa, 37
PORTLAND - Timothy "Tim" Frank Costa, 37, died on Oct. 3, 2015. He was born in Portland, on May 16, 1978, the son on Louis James and Dorothy (Moody) Costa. Tim grew up in the Hollis and Portland area, and was a 1997 graduate of South Portland High School.
Tim overcame many challenges throughout his life. As a teenager, he lost his eyesight, but he never let being blind stop him from anything. Even with no eyesight, he learned to ski double black diamond runs. Over the years, Tim had four different guide dogs from Guiding Eyes for the Blind, but his current guide dog, Carson, was his favorite.
Tim was a caring, loving, giving by nature, and thoughtful person. His family was very important to him, and he often spoke to them daily even through difficult times in his life. Tim was a friend of Bill W., but, like many, still struggled. He spent three weeks at the Cross Keys Retreat, which turned out to be a major turning point in Tim's life, thanks to the committed staff there. Tim was an inspiration to countless people throughout his short life. He will be sadly missed.
Tim is survived by his mother, Dorothy "Dottie" Costa, father, L. James "Jim" Costa and wife Ramona "Mona"; brother, Edward "Ted" Costa, sister, Janina "Jan" Costa; and nephew, Anthony "Tony" Ryan Costa, all of Hollis. He is also survived by three aunts, two uncles; and many cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 25, at Woodlawn Cemetery, US Rte. 1, Biddeford. Arrangements by the Dolby Funeral Chapel, Windham. Condolences to the family may be left at

Tim was my sponsor when he lived in FL and we went the the 12 steps together. I am still sober and practice to this day the things he has taught me. I am typing this literally with tears in my eyes. I pray all the time that he has found peace, RIP TIM

I remember you in High School. You was very sweet. I am not sure why your no longer here with us, but God always takes the ones he needs for a reason.
