Virginia Seepe Obituary

Virginia Swallow Seepe, 95
BOOTHBAY HARBOR -- Virginia Swallow Seepe, 95, a resident of St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor, passed peacefully in her sleep on May 1, 2008.
Virginia was born in Burlington, Vt., on Jan. 8, 1913, the daughter of William S. and S. Elisabeth (Fish) Swallow. Virginia was a 1935 graduate of Colby College in Waterville, and a 1936 graduate of Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School, New York, N.Y. She married Arthur William Seepe in 1939 and they lived in Waterville, until 1970 when Arthur retired as Treasurer of Colby College. Arthur died in 1987.
Virginia was mostly a loving stay-at-home mom, but she did work as Secretary to the Dean of Men at Babson Institute, Wellesley Hills, Mass., (1936-1937), Secretary to the Dean of Women at Colby College (1937-1939) and Secretary to the Administrator at Thayer Hospital in Waterville, (1958-1964). After Waterville, they went on to live in various places including Tamarac, Fla., Hendersonville, N.C., Tallahassee, Fla., and Waynesville, N.C. They also had a summer cottage at Killdeer Point in South China, for many years. She moved to St. Andrews Retirement Village, Boothbay Harbor, in 2000.
She was very active in the First Congregational Churches of Waterville and Tamarac, Fla.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia S. Crane of Boston, Mass., her son, A. William Seepe and his wife Sarah of East Boothbay; three grandchildren, G. Robert Crane of Merrimac, Mass., Susan Crane Carlson and husband Robert of Canton, Mass., and Jennifer Crane Hahn and husband Karl of Newton, N.H.; and four great-grandchildren, Alexis, 14, Kara, 9, and Matthew Hahn, 7, of Newton, N.H., and David Samuel Carlson, 3 months, of Canton, Mass.
At her wishes, there will be no funeral services. There will be a private family celebration of her life later this summer. Interment will be at the Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, Westchester County, N.Y.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at The Gregory Wing of St. Andrews Village at Boothbay Harbor for their genuine love and support.

Ginny and Bill: So sorry to hear about your mother, but she had a full life. She was such a kind person. I remember the time she got me a part time job at the then Thayer Hospital when I was a student at Colby. She will now rest in peace. You will miss her I am sure as you remember her kindness to you. Dear Ginny and Bill, Your mother was a dear person. Ginny and I were "best friends" growing up and I spent many hours at the Seepe house I remember her fondly and am glad I had a chance to see her again two years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all the family.
