Yvonne Martineau Hoffman, 87
     PORTLAND -- Yvonne Martineau Hoffman, 87, a lifetime resident of the Greater Portland area, died on March 31, 2006 in Portland from a long-term illness.
     Yvonne was born in Westbrook, March 17, 1919, the daughter of Marc and Olive Marie (Albert) Martineau.
     Yvonne is survived by her children, Ms. Rose Seger of Vertmont, Mrs. Linda and Lawrence Grant of Newburgh; sons, Thomas and fiancee, Louise Hamilton of Minot, Robert and Lai of Hawaii, Bradford and Charlene of South Portland, Mrs. Deborah and Dennis Young of Vermont; eight surviving grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
     Yvonne was predeceased by her siblings Mary Barnes, Olive Crowder, Leo and Fred Martineau, and her grandson, David Michael Hoffman.
     Yvonne attended Westbrook schools, was a communicant of Holy Cross Church and was employed by local businesses including the Songo Shoe Company and the Eastland Hotel before retiring from Maine Medical Center in 1985.
     In her retirement years she enjoyed her children, family and friends. She loved to travel and visit with relatives, and enjoyed the ocean. Yvonne traveled in the states as well as to Glacier Bay, Alaska as long as her health permitted. Yvonne loved to document and share her travels with family and friends with the photos, post cards, and keepsakes she gathered on those trips.
     Yvonne loved holidays and preparing for her children and grandchildren to visit, enjoying family meals and giving of gifts. She loved dancing and music, and marveled at the wonders of nature and the changing seasons. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and all who loved her. Yvonne was a special person, a loving mother, a fun loving sister, and a good friend to many as well as a hard worker during her long life.
     Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m., Monday April 3 at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland, where a funeral service will take place 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 4. Interment will follow at Brooklawn Memorial Park.
