Alice Nacey Obituary

Alice Nacey (nee Long), loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend, aunt, and avid volunteer, passed away on February 24. She will be terribly missed by her children, Dean (Elizabeth) and Travis Nacey of San Francisco, granddaughters Sloane and Shay Nacey, sister Carol L. Ogelsby (Charlie), niece Alison O. Farrell (Tom), nephews Matt (Jenaya) and Luke (Britt) Ogelsby, numerous nieces and nephews, and former husband, Glenn Nacey. Born on December 20, 1951, to Reda and Walter Long, Alice grew up in Gladwyne and graduated from Harriton High School in 1969. Following graduation from Beaver College in Philadelphia, she joined Chrysler Corporation as liaison to dealers throughout southeastern Pennsylvania. She moved to Pittsburgh, PA with her then husband, Glenn, where they started their family. Alice had been so admired by Chrysler that after the birth of her second son, Travis, she was recruited back to work, in the Chrysler Leasing division. However, after a short stint, she decided to dedicate her time to her true passion, her family. Following her return to the Main Line in 2010, Alice followed in her mother's footsteps, devoting her time to multiple charitable organizations, including Haverford College Arboretum, The Lankenau Hospital Medical Center, Eldernet of Lower Merion, and Cradles to Crayons to name a few. She was also a member of the Philadelphia Junior League and The Weeders, passing along her passion for horticulture to her sons. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Alice's memory to Eldernet of Lower Merion. You can give online at www.eldernet.org/donate or by check made payable to Eldernet: Eldernet of Lower Merion, 9 S. Bryn Mawr Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. A Celebration of Life will be held at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church on Thursday, April 6th at 2PM (625 Montgomery Ave; Bryn Mawr, PA). STUARD â€" NEWTOWN SQUARE A FAMILY TRADITION SINCE 1822

Alice lit up the room when she was able to attend Bookmarks. I was always happy to see her and her smile, which lit up the room. She is in Heaven now, and I am grateful for her sharing the Love of Christ.

I was so very saddened to hear of the passing of my dear, dear friend, Alice. We met back in the early 1980's in Mt. Lebanon, PA where we had both recently moved. Our friendship and that of our families grew stronger through the years, especially as we began to have our children. As my daughter, Kate, grew older, she and Alice had a very special bond and much in common. They often teased me that they needed to educate me on the real world!
Alice and I shared a lot of common interests, including reading. One day when we were on the phone she asked me what I was reading and I said one of the "Left Behind" series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins. She asked if she could borrow it and then shortly thereafter she called me to share with me that she had accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She also mentioned that her Mom had prayed for her for years to do that. I know beyond a doubt that I will one day be reunited with Alice, her Mom, my husband, my Dad and so many others that have gone before. What blessed assurance!
Until that day, my dear friend, I will miss you!

I, our family, and one of Travis's best friends met Alice shortly after they moved onto Boxfield right before Travis and JT went off to kindergarten. Our boys grew up together and remain good friends to this day and often were back and forth between homes during their school years. They and we have the best memories of those days and fun gatherings full of wonderful food, Alice loved to host all of us, and always laughter and love. Family was always first to all of us and she has left a great legacy in her men to cherish her memory. Rest in peace my friend. Will cherish our memories.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Alice she was a neighbor of mine growing up. I was in her Girl Scout group with her mother heading it out. She was a wonderful wonderful girl as her mother was.
I lost contact with Alice, but she had always been in my thoughts. Every time I would drive past the house, she grew up in.
My best to the family
