Marilyn Hughes Obituary

Marilyn Ann Hughes, age 75, of Zirconia, N.C. and Berwyn, Pa., has left us to be with her Heavenly Father on Oct. 31, 2010. Marilyn was born on May 18, 1935 in Renton, Wash., and was the daughter of Alice and Warren Aiken of Bremerton Wash. She attended Olympia College and received her associates degree in 1955. Marilyn was married for 52 years to James H. Hughes, recently deceased. She is survived by daughter Susan H. Whiteley of Newtown Square, Pa., son Daniel Hughes of Grand Rapids, Mich., and brother Allen Aiken of Seattle, Wash. There are nine beloved grandchildren including Dana, Lynn and Paige Whiteley children of Susan and Chip Whiteley, Kate and Nicholas, children of Dan and Shari Hughes and Lauren, Grant, Alex and Ashley, children of James and Lisa Hughes. Marilyn lived in Washington state and California for many years before settling in Berwyn, Pa., in 1976. Marilyn and James built their retirement home in 2006 in North Carolina where they ultimately retired. She was 'the face' of NewsNet, one of the first on-line information services for almost 20 years. Marilyn was active in many local charities including Paoli Hospital Auxiliary League. She was a friend, an advocate like no other for her Family, a Mother and an extraordinary person that will be missed by all. A memorial service to honor Marilyn's life will be held on Nov. 20, 2010 at 11 a.m., at St. Albans Episcopal Church located in Newtown Square, Pa.
