Mary Quinn Obituary

Mary Joan Meaney Quinn, "Joan", 91, of Villanova, PA., loving wife of Thomas Francis for 62 years passed away on June 3, 2021. Joan is survived by her seven children: Thomas Quinn (Elizabeth), Kathy Porter (Michael), Patricia Drollinger (Dave), Joseph Quinn (Amy), Rosemary Honebrink (Mark), Ann Quinn and Joanie Milhous (Stowe); 17 beautiful grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and cousins Tim & Jim Durkin, Patty Riale and Mary Ann Bernard. Joan was a graduate of the Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in Overbrook (class of '47) and Manhattanville College in New York (class of '51). Throughout Mom's life, she always thought of others first and in so doing touched the lives of many. Not only those she knew & loved, but even more importantly to Mom, the lives of many she didn't know! This commitment to giving was exhibited in the energy and love she gave to two special organizations: The Sacred Heart Academy in Bryn Mawr and The Emergency Aid of Pennsylvania Foundation. Mom was a member of Sacred Heart's Board of Trustees and served as the first woman Chairman of the Board. Her love of the Sacred Heart school was overwhelming. In appreciation of Mom's service, she received the SHA distinguished alumni award. Mom was an active member of the Emergency Aid of Pennsylvania Foundation for over 64 years. She held many positions including President and Board Chair. The Foundation supports local non-profits to improve the lives of women and children. Mom saw a need in the community and through the Foundation helped promote education, leadership and community service by mentoring young women and providing scholarships to enable further education. Today, there is a Foundation scholarship given out annually for deserving young women in her name (and her mother's), "The Quinn-Meaney Scholarship". Our mother lived a full & wonderful life. Mom's Catholic faith was the bedrock while her family was the inspiration. Mom's spirit of giving of herself never faltered even when the body tired. Her intellect, humor, courage and thoughtfulness were felt by all, but it will be her "special grace" that will live on in our hearts and guide our daily actions. How blessed we are to have had her as our mother. Thank you mom for everything. We love you! Relatives and friends are invited on Monday June 7th with Visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 AM and Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 AM at St. Katharine of Siena Church, Lancaster & Aberdeen Aves., Wayne, PA. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Emergency Aid of Pennsylvania Foundation, care of the Quinn & Meaney Scholarship, 221 Conestoga Rd., Wayne PA 19087 or to Sacred Heart Academy of Bryn Mawr, care of Advancement Office, 480 S. Bryn Mawr Ave., Bryn Mawr PA 19010 would be deeply appreciated. Funeral arrangements by McConaghy Funeral Home, Ardmore. www.mcconaghyfuneralhome.com

My condolences to the Quinn family. I am an old friend of Ann from out days at Cozen. After reading your beautiful tribute, I can see much of her mother reflected in Ann. Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always.
