Richard Carl Wein

1963 - 2022

Richard Carl Wein, age 59, of Devon, PA, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in the early morning hours of June 21, 2022. He had been battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) for the past 6 months, was in full remission, and was expected to make a full recovery. Rich was a loving husband, best friend and love of her life to Becky (Rebecca Ziegler Wein) for 34 years. He was a role model and loving father to his four children, Carter Douglas, 22, Claudia Paige, 18, Griffin Charles, 16, and Fraser Isabel, 13. Rich was a 1985 graduate of Cornell University. He was the CEO and founder of Aquipt and Systems Solutions Inc., since 1988. He enjoyed his work and the ever changing technology world, but mostly enjoyed the relationships and friendships he made throughout the years. Rich was born on February 28, 1963 and raised in Dolgeville, NY and spent his life summers at Pleasant Lake in Stratford, NY. He continued this legacy with his children, spending summers on the same lake where he taught them to swim, water ski, wakeboard, snowmobile, and shoot. He loved to prove that he “still had it” by wakeboarding daily and doing jumps and turns for anyone who would watch. He had a killer sense of humor, the willingness to help anyone, and a strong moral compass that guided his family. Ice blue eyes, an infectious smile and a loving heart were just a few of the words used to describe this beautiful man. Rich was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hike, mountain bike, wakeboard and travel. He was happiest in the Adirondack mountains and in Sanibel, FL surrounded by family and friends. Rich is also survived by his mother, Claudia Wein of Dolgeville, NY (Fredric Wein), sister, Cynthia Wein Korzelius and her husband Rick, and their four children, Richard, Jack, Bradley and Connor; brother, Doug Wein and his wife Beth, and his three children, Robert, Ashley and Jordan; and sister, Laurie Wein. A private family service will be held this weekend in the Adirondacks and Celebration of Life will be held at Episcopal Academy Chapel in Newtown Square on July 23, 2022 at 11:00am.
