She was a dear woman and inspiring and dedicated teacher. She wrote me a very long college recommendation in longhand! (This was the 70's, after all). I knew even then, how much time she must have put into it-and ?I am still grateful. I loved her accent. RIP, teach!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'll never forget your mom -- both in the classroom and out. She wrote a letter of recommendation for me for college and called me "wholesome." That was the first and last time anyone ever described me that way! My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I remember complaining to "Mrs. Mac" that I did not have any interest in reading any of the books she had assigned for a paper (they were all on Watergate -- this was in the '70s). So, she assigned me to read Centennial by James Michener. I think she thought she would be punishing my impudence by assigning me a book that had over 1000 pages, but instead, she created a life-long Michener fan. I was the first to turn in my paper that semester and she gave me an A+. I think of her whenever I read Michener or hear anyone talk about Watergate! She was an amazing and inspirational teacher.

To Rita's Dear Family

My sympathy to all. Mom and I were on faculty together at Merion-Mercy Academy during which time Mom taught our daughters. She will be truly missed.
