Brenda Posey Burnett Obituary

Brenda Charlotte Posey Burnett passed from this life on August 20th, 2025, after complications from cancer.  She was surrounded by her family at her home of fifty-nine years in Donaldson, AR.  She was born in Malvern, AR, April 20th, 1941, at her childhood home to the late Reed and Lorene Draper Posey.
She was a 1959 graduate of Malvern High School where she was a cheerleader and made friendships that lasted her entire life, as evidenced by being instrumental in class reunions until her passing.  She graduated from Henderson State University in 1974 with a degree in Elementary Education and then taught 3rd grade at Pratt Elementary School in Malvern for ten years when she retired in order to travel with her husband's work.  Between this and trips with family and friends, she went to all 48 contiguous states, Mexico, Canada and even made it to Spain and Morocco. One of her more memorable trips found her in San Franciso during the 1989 earthquake. In between travels, she was a valuable substitute teacher for Ouachita Elementary School, often filling in for long-term absences.  She served the Town of Donaldson as the city recorder and treasurer for twenty years and was also a vital part of the bi-annual Sandage Family Reunion for over 30 years.  She was a member of Donaldson Missionary Baptist Church for over sixty years where she served at times as a Sunday School teacher, Choir director and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.  She loved camping, playing cards and board games and she was the biggest fan of the musical group comprised of her son and granddaughters.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Patricia Keisler, Elaine Rice and Beverly Ledbetter.
She is survived by the love of her life and husband of sixty-six years, Mitchell D. Burnett of Donaldson; her son, M. Douglas Burnett, Jr. (Laura) of Donaldson; daughter B. Michelle Burnett Hughes (Chuck) of Mtn. View, AR;  sisters Sonya Nix (Burrell) and Janet Daily (Jerry), both of Donaldson, AR; brother in-law Pete Ledbetter of Malvern; grandchildren Kristian Miller (Paul) of Donaldson; Micah Boyett (Shellie) of Donaldson; Erin Wisniewski (Jon) of Mayflower, AR; Jonathan Boyett of Malvern; Austin Boyett (Elliott) of Benton, AR; Megan Lewallen (Patrick) of Little Rock, AR; Jazmin Saverse (Cory) of Clarksville, AR; Caroline Davis (Marc) of Magnet Cove, AR; Chloe Thompson of Donaldson; great grandchildren Lainey Miller, Jenna Boyett, Maggie Swanson, Emerson Boyett, Grant Miller, Easton Boyett, Mia Wisniewski, Max Wisniewski, Sawyer Davis, Noah Saverse and numerous precious nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 23rd, at the Donaldson Missionary Baptist Church, from 10-11AM with services immediately after, followed by a short graveside service at Ouachita Cemetery.  Officials will be Bro. Keith Rowton and Eld. Dan Samons.
The Pallbearers will be Micah Boyett, Jonathan Boyett, Austin Boyett, Paul Miller, Jon Wisniewski, Patrick Lewallen and Marc Davis with Richard Sandage, Mike Burnett and Mike Catlett as honorary pallbearers.
