Hercule Cooper was born on February 9, 1947, to the late James Cooper and Flossie Cooper Walker in Prattsville, Arkansas. He was the oldest of 7 children. He was raised in the Davis Creek Community by his grandparents, the Late Levi and Philistine (Lambert) Cooper. He attended school in the Malvern school district and graduated from AA Wilson High School. He later participated in AM&N College (now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff) (UAPB), graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics.
On June 26, 1970, he was joined in holy matrimony to Nona Jean Ollison (who preceded him in death). God sanctioned their union in heaven and was a beautiful example of Love and Faithfulness to inspire all. To this union, five children were born. He united with Davis Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Prattsville, Arkansas, at an early age, and he played a significant role in the church. I was proud to act as the Sunday School Superintendent. However, he was separated from the church for a short period of time due to work. When he returned, he came back ready to continue his service. He was a member of the Usher Board, Mass Choir, President of the Brotherhood, served as a teacher for the Adult Sunday School Class, served as a youth advisor, and Vice President of the Davis Creek Community Club. He was always ready and willing to do his part when it came to his beloved Davis Creek. It was said that Herk was always at the church, whenever the doors were open." Following in his grandfather's footsteps."
Hercule was the true example of a Family man. He lived to take care of his family. He worked a host of other substantial jobs, including being employed by W.R. Witt Stephens on his family farm in Prattsville, and even worked for a short period for ARKLA Gas Company (now Centrepoint Energy). Then he started working for Reynolds Metal Company and worked from 1974 until 2000 when the company closed, he then transitioned to Alco Rolling Plant where he retired due to health reason after 40 years of service.
Those completing the journey before him include his wife Nona Jean Cooper, parents Mother Flossie Walker (Wyman "Buster" Walker Sr.), Father James Cooper, Grandparents Levi & Philistine Cooper, Timothy & Beatrice Cooper, one brother Robert Coleman, two sons, Leslie Todd Cooper, and Hercule Cooper Jr. and one grandson Hercule Cooper, III, Several Aunts and Uncles.
