Peggy Lusinger Obituary

Peggy Birch Lusinger, age 74 of Malvern, died unexpectedly on Sunday evening, September 7, 2025, in Hot Springs.  She was born Margaret Ann Birch on February 5, 1951, in Malvern, to the late James Owen Birch and Vannie Gay Brady Birch.  Reared and receiving her early education in Malvern, she graduated from Malvern High School in the class of 1968.  Peggy later earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, becoming a Registered Nurse.  She put her all into that profession and loved every minute of tending to her patients throughout the years.  She retired in 2018 after 32 years in the healthcare industry.  Peggy loved her hometown, and was currently serving on the Malvern City Council as Ward 3 Alderman.  A staunch member of the Democratic Party, she looked at politics as bringing people together, and not dividing them.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church.  Peggy was a loving partner, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend.  She loved Christmas time and all that goes with it; the food, fellowship, the squeals of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren opening presents, and the celebration of Christ's birth.  Peggy was unselfish to the core.  She gave of herself and all she had to serve others.  An animal lover, over the years, she housed many rescued pets, and those she leaves behind will miss her terribly.
Peggy is survived by her life partner, Angel Melton; her children, Jacob Lusinger (Shaunda) of Malvern, Joshua Lusinger (Jennie) of Lafayette, Louisiana; and Dyka Lusinger of Malvern; siblings, Linda Cannon of Salinas, Texas, Bill Birch (Carol) of Little Rock, and Jim Hunter Birch (Charla) of Dallas; grandchildren, Zach (Destiny), Nathan (Lanee), Branden (Starr), Ivy, Lucas, Ian, and Harper; and great-grandchildren, Archer, Maddie, Naomi, R. J., and Ash; by her beloved pups, Luna, Loki, Poppy, Whiskey, and Charlie, all rescues; and her "bonus family".
She was also preceded in death by a son, Jay Michael Lusinger; a sister, Mary Jane; and a great-grandson, Sawyer Lusinger.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Friday afternoon, September 12, 2025, in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Candace Barron officiating, and under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee; the Malvern Boys and Girls Club; or the Malvern Animal Shelter.
