Bruce Johnson Obituary

Bruce Alan Johnson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, storyteller, jokester and joyful spirit, passed away peacefully on October 4th surrounded by family and love. Bruce was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 19, 1931, to Rudolph and Hazel Johnson of Montclair, New Jersey where Bruce graduated from Montclair High School in 1949.

Bruce attended Cornell University, earning a B.A. in Psychology and an MBA in Marketing by 1954. At Cornell, he joined the Delta Kappa Epsilon (DKE) fraternity. There he met his first wife, Judy Kaim, a student at Skidmore College. They were married shortly after graduation in 1954.

In 1992 Bruce married Diane Barrows of Dorset after the tragic death of Judy in a plane crash in 1989. Bruce and Diane became grief partners after the crash as Diane's husband, John, was on the same plane as Judy. They were married in 1992 and joined together their 5 children.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Diane, his three children, Sharon Johnson-Tennant, Craig Johnson, Eric Johnson, and his stepson Justin Barrows, along with 14 grandchildren

An open house will be held at their home at 2195 Route 30, Dorset on November 8th from 2 until 5.
