Edwin Earl Teeling

1932 - 2024

Born June 7, 1932, in the Bronx, Edwin (Ed) spent his early years living in Long Beach, NY, known as "the city by the sea." As a young adult, Ed spent summers lifeguarding at the town's beautiful beaches. In 1952, Ed was drawn to another city, Washington, DC, where he attended Georgetown University and graduated in 1956. After college, Ed returned to New York and began a career in public relations, most notably supervising U.S. corporate public affairs for DeBeers Consolidated Mines Ltd. In 1966 he met Paula Keane of Boston, MA, and the two were married in 1967. They have three daughters: Kate Talbot (Greg), Meg Cornell (Gavin) and Jane Teeling Chou (Russell), and five grandchildren. In 1990, Paula and Ed left New York for the Green Mountains of Manchester, VT, where for the next 34 years they were blessed with the company of close friends. Despite living out of state, Ed remained a lifelong fan of the NY Giants, riding along with the team's ups and downs over the decades. Ed's Catholic faith has been central to his life, first as a parishioner at St. Ignatius Church in Long Beach and most recently at St. Paul Church in Manchester, VT. A mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Paul's/Christ Our Savoir Parish on May 17, 2024, at 11am. Friends are invited to offer their condolences prior to mass beginning at 10:30. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of the Southwest Region (VNAHSR) of Vermont.
