Janet Jamieson Obituary

Janet Hurley Jamieson of East Granby, formerly of East Windsor, passed away on November 29, 2017, after a lengthy illness, in the loving care of her family. She endured her illness with courage and grace. Janet was 79.

She was born in Manchester Center, Vermont to the late Roger B. and Helen (Adams) Hurley. After her marriage to James T. Jamieson, she moved to East Windsor, Connecticut and raised their family. Following her husband's retirement, she maintained homes in Tangerine, Florida and in Tinmouth, Vermont.

A passionate music lover, Janet was a member of numerous bands, choirs, chorale groups and bell choirs. She also loved volunteering and was the director of the Senior Citizen's Choir in East Windsor for many years. Jan also was quite a game enthusiast and was likely to be found playing Scrabble, card games or Words with Friends. She adored her winter visits to Florida, but always said her favorite place to be was at her lake home in Vermont. She often referred to camp as her "heaven on earth." Nothing was more important to Jan than her loving family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Jamieson. She is survived by her sister, Phyllis B. Dickie of Manchester Center, Vermont; her brother, R. Gordon Hurley and his wife Joyce of Port Saint Lucie, Florida; her son, Timothy Jamieson and his wife Lynn of Ellington, Connecticut; her daughters, Susan Frost of Columbus, Ohio; Judith Mitchell and her husband Andrew of Woodruff, South Carolina; Sandra Vick and her husband Gary of East Granby, Connecticut; sister in-law, Ellen Bell Wilcox and her husband Paul of Manchester Center, Vermont; as well as her 9 grand-children: Sarah, Brenda, Dustin, Laurel, Robin, Sean, Ryan, Jamieson & Makenzie. She also leaves behind numerous loving great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and very dear friends.

A memorial service will take place at 10:30am on December 29, 2017 at the First Congregational Church of East Windsor with interment immediately following at the Scantic Cemetery. The family invites relatives and friends back to the parish hall for a light reception provided by the Women's Fellowship in celebration of a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Five Corner Cupboard Food Pantry, 124 Scantic Road, East Windsor, Connecticut 06088.
