Aileen Joyce (Cronkrite) Carlson, 95, of Dublin, Michigan, passed away peacefully November 21, 2023, in Cadillac, Michigan. Aileen was born on the March 29, 1928, in Peacock, Michigan to George W. Cronkrite and his wife Minnie, who preceded her in death. Aileen attended the one room schoolhouse in Dublin, and graduated from Dickson High School in Brethren. She anxiously awaited the end of WWII, and the return of her future husband, Leland Carlson of Hoxeyville. Leland and Aileen were married on June 22, 1946. They had five boys: Brian, Byron, Ryan, Tracy and Justin. Aileen relished being a mother above all else. She was known for her love of her Catholic faith, serving in various capacities at St. Bernard Parish in Irons. She maintained this deep abiding faith, and is surely rewarded for the same.
Aileen was preceded in death by: husband, Leland; eldest son, Brian; Brian's daughter, Leanne; Aileen's half siblings, Evelyn (Syers) Thole, Ernest Syers, and Linda (Syers) Jurik.
She is survived by: sons, Byron, Ryan, Tracy (Terre) and Justin (Maureen); and a long list of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear childhood and lifelong friend, Rose Marie Fischer.
Her passing gives us pause as the Greatest Generation slips into the fog, and cherishing them is always worth the effort.
Cremation has taken place per her wishes. Family will receive friends from 3:00PM-5:00PM on Friday, December 1, 2023 at the Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Altar Society at St. Bernard Parish, Irons MI.
To live in the hearts of those left behind is not to die.
