Joan Crow Obituary

Joan Marie Crow, 94, of Brethren, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Maple Ridge Manor, in Manistee. She was born May 1, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of John and Mary (Mayeran) Vacek.
Joan grew up on a dairy farm and graduated from Kaleva High School. She married the love of her life, Fred Crow, October 1, 1949. In her spare time, Joan loved making beautiful quilts and was famous for her lemon meringue pie. She worked as the Clerk for Dickson Township, was treasurer for Epworth United Methodist Church, in Brethren, and was a member of the Eastern Stars.
Joan is survived by: her children, Fred (Ellen) Crow and Lynn Smith; grandchildren, Mark (Kristina) Crow of New York, Jason (Lisa) Crow of Rockford, and Jamie Price of Allegan; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Arlene Vacek; her beloved companion, Richard Karnisz, and his children, Jim, Joan, Jill, and Eric Sullivan.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Fred Crow; her great-granddaughter, Naenia; and her brother, John Vacek, Jr.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Epworth United Methodist Church, in Brethren. Family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until the time of service at the church. Interment to follow in Brethren Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Epworth United Methodist Church, in Brethren.
The Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva, is in charge of arrangements.

Oh, Aunt Joan! You and Uncle Bert were my closest family...literally...being 10 miles down the road. It was wonderful to share holidays with you, eat your amazing lemon meringue, and have you in my life for 50 years.
While the world's light got a bit dimmer yesterday, it's wonderful to know you're at peace.
