FREEMONT, Neb. -- Joshua Charles Mulder was born to Richard and Susan (Neitzke) Mulder on Sept. 15, 1997 in Fremont, Neb. He passed away Dec. 21, 2017 in a motor vehicle accident near Cozad, Neb., at the age of 20 years.
Josh was baptized and confirmed in Christ at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland, Neb. He was a proud 2016 graduate of Oakland-Craig High School. Josh was currently a student at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, working toward a psychology degree.
Josh had a strong faith and a huge heart. He loved his family and friends. As a child he was active in Cub Scouts, baseball and hanging out at the pool. He loved the water and being outdoors. He enjoyed spending time at Chief Lake in Michigan and Lake Cochrane, S.D. while visiting his Grandparents.
When he was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 12, a great friendship developed between Josh and an awesome group of boys. His happiest times were with "the squad". Over the years they kept busy playing disc golf, "dinger" baseball, paintball, kayaking, watching WWE, trips to Lake Cochrane in the summer, ski trips to Colorado in the winter and just hanging out in Josh's room.
In high school, Josh was a dedicated cross country runner and enjoyed being a member of the basketball and track teams. Even though golf wasn't his sport, Josh achieved a feat few have accomplished, he got a hole in one on the 6th hole at the Oakland Golf Club. In college he participated in intramural sports, he was excited his football team won their division this year. Josh had his challenges in life, but he was a very determined young man and did not let anything stop him from what he wanted to achieve.
Josh is survived by his parents; brother, Jared; sister, Marissa; grandparents, Dr. Richard and Ruth Mulder of Ivanhoe, Minn., Charles and Celia Neitzke of Kaleva; aunts and uncles, Angie (Todd) Board of NC, Stefini (Matt) Thomsen of Minn., Curtis Mulder of Minn., Jane Neitzke of Mich.; cousins, Rachel and Rory Board, Addie and Jack Thomsen.
