Rebecca Feil Obituary

Rebecca "Becky" J. Feil
Manistee, Michigan
September 30, 1964 - July 29, 2022
Rebecca Jean Feil age 57 of Manistee died Friday evening July 29, 2022 at Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI surrounded by her family.
She was born in Stanley, WI on September 30, 1964. Becky was the daughter of Lawrence & Sandra (Vetterkind) Walteraitis. Her childhood was spent on her family farm helping in a variety of ways and working at the Root Beer Stand down the road in her hometown of Thorp, WI. She was a 1983 graduate of Thorp High School. She obtained her associates degree in Applied Science-Nursing in 1987 from North Central Technical Institute. In 2013, she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ferris State University, which was a lifelong goal of hers. On May 2, 1992, she married Scott Feil in Lublin, WI.
Becky was a nurse for over 30 years. She was passionate about advocating for patients. She retired from cardiac nursing in 2015 and moved on to be a nursing clinical instructor at West Shore Community College. She later left due to her breast cancer diagnosis and her want to live life to the fullest. Becky spent many of her days helping others and leading in a variety of community positions such as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and Onekama Band Booster. She wanted to give back to those around her in every way that she could. In her free time, she loved to chat and drink her morning coffee, plant in her garden, travel, go camping (which was known as her Happy Place), be an active member of her church and spend time with her beloved friends and family.
Survivors include her husband, Scott Feil, two children: Kayla Feil (Steve Smrt) of Oak Park, IL, and Katelynn Feil of Manistee, and her granddaughter, Ella Feil, her siblings: Penny (Gary) Abramowicz of Manitowoc, WI, Candace (Don) Ouiment of Cornell, WI and Larry (Traci) Walteraitis of Thorp, WI.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, Sandra and Lawrence Walteraitis.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022 at Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee where the family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM with a wake following at 6 PM.
Funeral services will take place Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Manistee with Pastor Philip Harell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery also in Manistee.
A memorial fund in Becky's honor has been established by the Feil Family which will collaboratively be managed by First Baptist Church to offer assistance and support of extraneous costs for those suffering with chronic health conditions. Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church: Becky Feil Living Memorial. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and will also at the First Baptist Church of Manistee.
The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Sending prayers and hugs! Becky and myself used to hang out when we were in school. Only lived a few miles apart. She was always so kind. She was a true friend. Rest easy my friend

Becky was a wonderful niece. She had the most beautiful smile that would light up a room. She showed her care for others always. Her strength and faith was with her everyday. I can picture her now in heaven having coffee with her Mom and Dad and her Beloved Grandma Victoria. My thoughts and prayers are with you Scott and your family. May the many memories and faith be with you all at this time.

Becky was one of the best nurses. She was very caring, kind, and strong. She worked on one of my nursing units and you couldn’t ask for a better person.
So sorry to hear about your loss. Wishing you and your family peace and comfort during this difficult time .

Becky was one of the best people I've had the privilege of meeting. She had a warmth about her and was always smiling. The irony in that is I didn't know Becky until she was diagnosed with cancer. She was an amazing example to me that we need to live every day to the fullest. She is an inspiration of strength and faith. What a fighter she was. I wished I'd met her when she was well but will be best of friends when I meet her again in heaven.
