Virginia S. Sherwood, age 84, of Mio, MI, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at her home.
Virginia was born in Onaway, MI on December 4, 1940 to Mitchell and Doris (Tesluk) Kiogima. She graduated from Manistee High School in 1958. Virginia had worked as a Nurse's Aide at White Oak Manor in Mio for several years. She has served on the Oscoda County Council on Aging Board for the past few years. Virginia enjoyed playing BINGO and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Yvonne Marie Kott, Stanley James Kott, and James Earl Sherwood, Jr.; her sisters, Betty Ann Stendel and Faye Keyes; her grandchildren, Aimee Beth Sandell-Green, Amber Renee Sandell, Merritt Kott, Nicholas Kott, and Morgan Kott; and her great-grandchildren, Amber Lynn Sandell-Siuda and Corey James Green. Virginia is also survived by her special sister-in-law, Margaret Young, along with many nieces, nephews, and Bingo pals. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Cynthia Lynn Kott, and her brother, Gary Eugene Kiogima.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Virginia's Life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the Oscoda County Council on Aging, 429 N. Mt Tom Road (M-33), Mio, Michigan 48647.
