Betty Williams Obituary

Betty Bemiller Williams

TOLEDO: Betty Bemiller Williams, age 86, of Toledo and formerly of Mansfield, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 following a very courageous journey.

She was born May 2, 1931 in Morrow County, the daughter of Floyd Charles and Dortha V. (Hindley) Bemiller and was graduated from Lexington High School in 1949.

On February 20, 1951 she married Vaughn Howard Williams Jr. and together they celebrated over 66 years of marriage. Raising their four daughters occupied most of Betty's time and energy; however, she also helped Vaughn in their family business as vice president and secretary of Vaughn Williams & Associates.

She was a former member of Lexington Church of Christ, and was more recently a member of Hope Baptist Church in Toledo.

Betty and Vaughn moved their home to Toledo in 1967 and enjoyed being snowbirds wintering in Hollywood, Florida for many years. They also enjoyed traveling all over the world, especially their travels to Europe, Southeast Asia, Mexico, Hawaii and the Bahamas.

A loving and selfless wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Betty's greatest accomplishment was her family. She was a caring person, always doing for others. She loved to host get togethers for family and friends.

Betty is predeceased by her parents; brothers-in-law, Robert Williams, Robert Jones, John Brandeburg, Arthur Kurz and son-in-law, Marvin Gottlieb, and great grandson Benjamin Boyd. She is survived by her husband, Vaughn; sisters, Gene Kurz and Carol Yarger (Norm); sisters-in-law, Judy Jones and Ruth Ann Brandeburg; daughters, Cynthia Borah (Steve), Jill Gottlieb, Susan Haring (Marc), and Julie Warner (Craig); grandchildren, Gretchen Borah, Nate Haring (Jorai), Michael Warner, Elizabeth Boyd (John), Ashley McKinney (Craig), Alexander Warner, Christopher Haring (Darbee), seven great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.

God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to be.

So he closed his arms around you

and whispered "Come to me".

You didn't deserve what you went through

And so he gave you...rest.

God's garden must be beautiful,

He only takes the best.

And when I saw you sleeping

So peaceful...free from pain,

I could not wish you back,

To suffer that again.

It broke our hearts to lose you

But you didn't go alone,

For part of us went with you

The day God called you home.

A private service was held at the family's request. Thanks to all the caring hospice nurses, aides and volunteers that helped comfort our Mother. A special thanks to Lisa, David, Leann, Christine, Katie and Merrisa.
