George Junior Ronk

Crestline: George Junior Ronk, 75, of 212 Park Road, Crestline, died Sunday, October 16, 2011 at his home after a lengthy illness.

George was born in Crestline on August 21, 1936 to the late George J. Ronk and Wanda M. (Garverick) Smith. He married Norma J. McDonald on October, 4, 1966 and she survives him.

George was employed as a mechanic with Ronk Towing and retired in 1978. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Crestline. He enjoyed coin collecting and baseball cards. George loved animals including homing pigeons. He was a social butterfly and didn't know a stranger.

He is survived by his daughter Kim Schroeder, Galion, his son Rick (Babette) Ronk, Crestline; four stepchildren: Jeanette Cost, Marion, Benjamin Cost, FL, John S. (Hope) James, Crestline, Eva (Anthony) Romaker, Columbus; twelve grandchildren Heather Snyder, Chad Schroeder, Amanda Moyer, Meghan Ronk, Natalie Ronk, Harmonie (Tom) Sykes, Damon Cost, Joshua James, Jasmine James, James Romaker, Chloe Romaker and Lillian Romaker; six great grandchildren Cameron Snyder, Makenna Moyer, Joseph & Damon Cost, Calder & Weston Sykes, his stepmother Eunice Ronk of Crestline, his brother Jole Ronk, Crestline; his sisters Melanie Baker, Mansfield, Judy Sanders, Galion, and Cindy (Bill) Buxton, Mansfield.

He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Ronk, his brother Richard Ronk and an infant sister Marilyn Smith.

Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 PM at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline. A Vigil Service will be held at 8:30 PM with Deacon William Horning officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shelby, with Rev. Michael A. Geiger officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Crestline.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
