John David Phillips

MANSFIELD: John Phillips knew the three things in human life that are important. The first is to be kind. The second is to be kind. And the third is to be kind. John was an adoring grandfather, loving husband, and when it came to his personal resources, John was never selfish.

John passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012 in his Mansfield home. He was 63.

Born in Mansfield on January 15, 1949, John was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1967, and remained a lifelong resident.

Following his graduation, he went to work at Therm-O-Disc, and worked 40 years as a press operator.

He doted on his family - and loved to dote on his cars and motorcycles. If he was not on a charity bike run, John could be found detailing one of his family's cars, planning a casino trip or "babying" his mixed Beagle Annie.

He is survived by his wife Lynda (Sarianides) Phillips, whom he married September 29, 1997; their children Amy & Billy Dyches and Justin & Shannon Phillips all of Aiken, SC, Beth & Mico Castelvetere and Stach Popa of Mansfield, Jonah Popa of Ashland and Douglas Popa of Eugene, OR ; ten grandchildren; his father Frank Wayne Phillips, Jr. of Mt. Vernon; his sister and brother-in-law Vicki & Bob Meredith of Mt. Vernon; a brother and sister-in-law Donald & Bonnie Phillips of Mt. Vernon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara (Barton) Phillips; and a brother Larry Phillips.

The Phillips family will receive friends Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where his funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. The Very Rev. Father Nelson Beaver will officiate. Burial will follow In Mansfield Memorial Park.

Contributions in his memory to Resurrection Parish may be made at the funeral home.

im so sorry to hear of Johns passing, he was a dear friend to the Chinn family .i was hoping to get to have him go riding with me and dad and some of my friends to K.y and some bike runs this year as we talked often about all things motorcycles.he was one of the most laid back and kind person i ever met. i know he is in a better place now.may he rest in peace .
