Louann Ritzhaupt Obituary
MANSFIELD: Louann Ritzhaupt had a five-foot stature and a ten-foot personality! Her bright and upbeat demeanor was engaging and indicative of a lady who genuinely cared for others, and never knew a stranger.
The sparkle in her eye, the lilt in her voice, and the smile that usually flashed across her face have dimmed, as Louann passed into the Lord's presence Sunday, November 20, 2016 from her Mansfield home. She was 77.
Born December 22, 1938 to Florence Roser, she was promptly adopted by the doctor who delivered her: Dr. Paul A. & Verna (Brill) Blackstone. She was raised in Bellville until Dr. Blackstone moved his practice to Mansfield in 1950, and Louann was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1956. She attended Ohio University but transferred to Ashland College, and receive Eagle Emeriti in 2012. It was there at Ashland that a forward young basketball player introduced himself (ask him), and the two were married September 17, 1960.
Louann worked the switchboard on the night shift of Mansfield General Hospital before her position as assistant librarian at Madison Jr. High School. In the 1970s she owned and operated "The Stitchery" in West Park Shopping Center, and later worked in the gift shop of Der Dutchman.
She was a gifted needle-worker - serious about her counted cross stitch projects - one of which won Best in Show, in the Richland County Fair. She volunteered at the Richland County and Bellville Street Fairs' Arts and Crafts displays.
A member of the OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital Auxiliary, Louann volunteered in the gift shop for 22 years. Dear to her heart were the preservation efforts of the Bellville-Jefferson Township Historical Society - which makes its home in her childhood home - and was a charter member, was serving as the Society secretary and the secretary of the Board of Directors.
She is survived by her husband Wilbur F. Ritzhaupt; their daughters Beth (Jonathan) Metz of Sulpher Springs, Allison Ritzhaupt of Mansfield and Cara (Chuck) Kochis of Mansfield; grandchildren Tyler (Alisha) Osbun of Mansfield, Drew (Jodi) Osbun of Conway, SC, Courtney (Seth) Oyster of Butler, Jenn Young of Butler, Lincoln Kochis of Mansfield, Morgan Kerr of Lucas and Hannah Kochis of Mansfield; great grandchildren Noah, Cole, Katie, Jayce, JJ, Kassidy, Brylee, Kaelynn and Jayden; her half-sister Sylvia Smith in Kentucky, a half-brother Robert (Kari) Spina in California, a half-sister-in-law Deb Spina in Wisconsin; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and birth-mother, she was preceded in death by a half-brother Jerry Spina.
The Ritzhaupt family will receive friends Monday, November 28, 2016 from 2 to 7 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where her memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Faith Proietti will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to her favorite charity: The Bellville-Jefferson Township Historical Society, may be made at the funeral home.

I am so sorry to hear of Louann's passing. I was one of her pharmacists, and I always enjoyed her visits to the pharmacy. She was such a kind and thoughtful person. She knew I had a bit of a commute to work, and she drew a map herself of a detour around Bellville during construction last summer, then made a special trip to the pharmacy just to bring it to me. I'll really miss seeing her.

Ritzhaupt family, My heart breaks for your loss of such a wonderful lady. I have known Louann for over 39 years and all the many years that she would come into my office(Park Avenue Vision Clinic) she was such a delight... We shared many, many stories and laughs and tears... I recently saw her at the Bellville Street Fair and we only chatted for a few moments...
