Lucretia H. McCruter
MANSFIELD: Lucretia H. McCruter, age 92, was born March 2, 1923 in Demopolis, AL and went Home to be with the Lord on March 4, 2015 at her residence in Mansfield, OH surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. McCruter was formerly the Director of Education at Community Action Head Start and a Volunteer for Richland County Children Services. She was a member of Greater St. John, Oasis of Love Church of God in Christ where she served as The Senior Church Mother, President of the Hospitality Committee, Director of The Sunshine Band, member of Prayer and Bible Band, Sewing Circle and Church Advisory Board.
Mother McCruter was preceded in death by her parents, Ella and Roland Williams Sr.; husband, Robert McCruter Sr.; brothers, Henry Williams, James Williams, Roland Williams Jr., Fred Williams, Tom Williams and Calvin Williams; and sisters, Lucy Hood and Ella Bell McCruter.
Left to cherish her memory, sons, Robert (Sandra) McCruter and Garlan (Pat) McCruter; daughters, Lucretia "Nnenna" McCruter Jordan, Vera Joetta (Elder Gerald) McCruter-Polk and Shirley Ann (The Late Bishop Walter E. Sr.) Jordan; sisters, Ann Lois Russell, Becky (Leon) Russell, Louise Fluker, and Clara Cochran; 13 grandchildren 15 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends each day until the service at the home of her daughter and son in law, Vera Joetta McCruter-Polk and Elder Gerald Polk. Mother McCruter will Lie in State at 9:00am, the family will receive friends at 10:00am until start of Home Going Service at 11:00am Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Greater St. John, Oasis of Love Church of God in Christ, 190 Chester Ave. Pastor Walter Jordan II, Eulogist. Interment at Mansfield Cemetery. Ministry of Comfort entrusted to MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE, 2500 Cleveland Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43211. I have many memories of Mrs. McCruter from our days at Headstart on Annadale Ave. She inspired me in many ways especially in her love for family. I loved her sense of humor, her strength and her spirit. I feel blessed to have known and worked with her. My prayers go out for the family during the difficult days ahead.

My sincere condolences to the McCruter Family. While I was not acquainted with Mother McCruter, I am familiar with the pain and loss that you are feeling at losing a beloved family member. I remember that Garlan played the organ at my father's homegoing service and Elder Polk was instrumental in placing a velvet covering over his body that commemorated his position as Superintendent of Sunday School in the Church of God in Christ. Be encouraged that other saints are holding you up in prayer.
