Edward Raney Obituary

Edward W. Raney, 90
1935 - 2025
Brockton - Edward W. Raney, 90, a resident of Brockton for the past 60 years, passed away on October 14, 2025 at the VA Boston Health Care System in Brockton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Beverly D. (Ralph) Raney.
Born in Lynn, a son of the late Ralph and Elizabeth (Foley) Raney, he was raised in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School.
A veteran of the US Navy, Edward served during the Korean War as a FTA3 and was honorably discharged.
Edward continued his education at Fitchburg State College where he received a bachelor's degree in Vocational Education.
Edward began his working career the US Navy Shipyard where he completed his apprenticeship as a ship fitter.
Edward's primary employment was with the US Department of the Navy as a naval architect technician, a position he held of 29 years.
Edward was also a former instructor at Blue Hill Vocational High School and also worked for the Boston Planning Group.
He enjoyed reading and keeping up with the latest US Navy news.
Edward is survived by his children, Kathleen Raney of Brockton, Ralph Raney and his wife Sande of Winthrop and Lynne Anne Raney of Brockton; a brother, Donald Raney of Peabody; his grandson, Christopher Raney of Winthrop; a niece, Paula Osborne and her husband Stephen of Lowell; and a nephew, James Raney.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington Street (Rte.138) Easton. Interment with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:30 p.m. Visiting hours on Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
