Avery Blankfort Obituary
Avery had a big heart. She adored her sister. She loved her friends fiercely and always sought to lift them up. She believed passionately in equality for girls and women. She loved animals, especially owls and sharks, and wanted to be a marine biologist.
Avery demonstrated a lively intellectual curiosity. On an owl-watching hike in Muir Woods at age eight, she had the opportunity to dissect an owl pellet. She chose the biggest one and thrilled in identifying the many skeletons it contained. In first grade, when tasked with selecting an animal to study in preparation for a visit to the San Francisco Zoo, she chose the hairy tarantula, because "they're cool." She spent most of a 2018 tour of Westminster Abbey jumping up and down with her hand in the air, eager to answer questions posed.
Avery excelled at tennis and skiing. She exhibited a daredevil spirit and relished terrifying her parents with tree-skiing exploits. She was a ruthless competitor with an uncanny ability to win at board games, and remains the family Monopoly champion. She loved dance, music, art, and Minecraft.
Avery possessed a mischievous sense of humor and lit every room with her vivacious smile and sharp wit. She spoke her mind, often and delightfully in ways that ought not be printed in an obituary.
Her family loves her and is proud of her.

it is hard to believe two years have passed. My son, Jackson, was in several classes with Avery over their 7th grade year at MVMS. They often did homework together over Zoom. He talked about her daily, always shared how kind, funny and smart she was and that she always made his day better. He asks about her often, mostly in the evening when we turn in to bed. He shares how he misses her and wishes she were here so they could help each other through this bumpy teenage time. Your daughter's beautiful smile, kind nature and wonderful intellect truly made an indelible mark on my son.
I think of you, Naomi, Todd and Gray daily and wanted to let you know how missed and loved she was.

I knew Avery in middle school and remembered her because she was always so kind to me and included me even when others didn't. We fell out of touch but I wish I had known her better, because she seemed so genuinely sweet and fun to be around. I remember crying the entire night after hearing the news. She was too young.

I remember when we were both five and we were camping in my backyard for my sisters birthday and we took my sisters blankets and she got so mad and we were just laughing the whole night.

i remember skiing with avery and Elise down our favorite run kt-22, avery and i stopped and she looked at me and said "i never want this" moment to end which was then followed by Elise dumping a large snowball on my head which of course made avery light up with her infectious laugh, more then ever of wish that moment never ended.

After living a few doors down her entire life, I had just had the pleasure of meeting Avery and Gray in the last year during Covid when they were walking Daisy. I grew up with Avery. She was one of my best friends and was always there for me. We took swimming lessons in preschool together and an art class in 5th grade. She was always there for everyone and was such a good listener. Heaven gained an angel. Love you forever aves.
