Barbara Green Obituary

Barbara Adele Green Age 67, of Tahoe City, CA and the Kohala Coast, HI, passed away on October 11 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on September 18, 1947 in New York City to Charlotte and Harry Ostroff. After graduating from Aragon High School in San Mateo she received a Medical Assistant degree from Pierce Junior College. She met Richard Green in Squaw Valley, CA and the two were married on May 23, 1970. Following a career in medical bookkeeping, Barbara devoted herself to her family. She was a consummate daughter, mother, wife, and grandmother -- an exceptional cook who never dared serve leftovers and a selfless role model who led with grace and wit. A longtime Marin resident, Barbara enjoyed hiking on Mount Tamalpais, skiing in Tahoe, and golfing with family and friends. Barbara was one of a kind -- a caring, clever, and strong woman with an expansive network of cherished friends. She left an indelible impression on each and every person she encountered and inspired all those around her with her love of life. She is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Brad and Michael and their spouses; and granddaughter Sasha. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Samantha. The family is requesting that donations be sent to the Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center in memory of Barbara. Please make checks payable to the Tahoe Forest Health System Foundation (or TFHSF). P.O. Box 2508, Truckee, CA 96160.
