Brett Guthrie Obituary

Brett Thurston Guthrie Died Thursday, December 7th, 2005 at Vail Valley Medical Center in Vail, Colorado. Brett was born in San Francisco, CA on May 29, 1968 at Kaiser Hospital. He and his family moved to Napa in 1970, and moved to Minturn, Colorado in 1976. He moved back to Corte Madera, CA in 1980 where he stayed until 1989. He graduated from Redwood High School in 1987. Between 1989 and 2005 he split his time between California and Colorado. His friends were the world to him. They became his family, and he would do anything for them. He enjoyed many things: good music, good food, good and bad women, hunting, fishing, barbecuing in the back yard, motorcycles, mountain biking, abalone diving, rafting, tubing, hanging out with friends, rockets, helping out whenever anyone needed something done, practical jokes, respect for all things, and above all else laughing out loud. He was so full of love, yet at times he didn't know how to express it. He was a protector. Brett had so many demons, but he also had a tremendous zest for life. Lately it seemed that we were all giving Brett a hard time about not working, but I think he had a job. By trade he was a plumber, but to him being there for the people he cared about was the most important thing. He wanted to be there for John, who has been going through a mid-life crisis. He wanted to be there for Mom and Papa Wolf. He wanted to be there for Austin and Kim. When I would go to work, Brett would come and visit me just to so we could hang out together. He would call me to go to breakfast and when were we going to ski that day. He wanted to be friends with my friends. He wanted to get to know all of them. To my brother, I will miss you deeply and forever. And I will remember to laugh out loud and often. Survived by Alex I. Guthrie (father), Alex S. Guthrie (brother), Jessica Guthrie (sister), Megan and Sean Casey (sister and brother-in-law), Suszanne and Wolf Mueller (mother and stepfather). Many cousins, uncles, aunts and so many friends I can't count them all. Services were held on December 13th, 2005 in Vail, Colorado.
