DAVID POTTS Obituary

David Paul Potts David Potts, age 44 of San Anselmo, was tragically taken from us July 9th, 2011 while vacationing in Maui with his family and friends. Born on August 11, 1966 at Marin General Hospital, David attended St. Patrick's and Neil Cummins schools and graduated from Redwood High School in 1984. Beginning as a teenager working at Ross Grocery store, David established himself as a giving and hard worker. He developed his knowledge of design and construction and skills as a fine craftsman while working alongside his father. Once David earned his own state contractor's license, he formed his own company remodeling and building fine homes for many happy customers in Marin and the surrounding bay area. In 2000 David met Tika Hick and they quickly created a wonderful life together. On January 12, 2011 they welcomed their son Indigo Harte Potts to the world and instantly settled in to being doting parents. David, an avid sportsman and adventurer, was passionate about the outdoors, especially cycling, skiing and skydiving. David approached everything with an incomparable spirit, a great attitude and excelled at anything and all he tried to do. He met fatherhood the same way, trading in extreme sports for his new joys and responsibilities. David loved to gather people together and freely offered his home, his cooking and his desire for others to feel welcome. David was a tremendous host and thrived by making sure his family and friends alike were well cared for and always having a good time. David's enthusiasm for life, his infectious smile and relaxed demeanor made him many friends and brought joy to all who knew him. He has left incredibly happy and lasting memories with his multitude of loved ones. He will not be forgotten. David is survived by his son Indigo, his fiancee Tika, his mother Paula Krause, father Paul Vincent, brothers Michael (Jacquie) and Matthew, sister Stephanie (Jeff), nieces Sydnie, Caylie, Talise and grandmother Betty Krause as well as numerous extended family members and close friends who will love and miss him forever. A trust account has been established for David and Tika's son Indigo Harte Potts. Memorial gifts may be made to Indigo Potts at Bank of Marin with checks made payable to Paula Krause for benefit of Indigo Potts. A mass will be held for David on Saturday, August 13th at St. Patrick's Church in Larkspur at 11:00 AM.

I just found out today and I am truly in shock. I saw David about 9 months ago and he told me the wonderful news of his becoming a father. David was such an amazing person with a kind heart and always greeted you with a smile. He will truly be missed.

My heart goes out to Tika and little Indigo... as well as, David and Tika's immediate family and loved ones... it's just an unimaginable loss. My condolences are sent, as a friend of a close family member, who always shared his love for this family with such deep adoration. May all the love, care and support pouring in for this whole family be of some comfort and healing as they come to the acceptance of David's death, preserving their fond memories and everlasting love to be with him in a place of Peace.

We just can’t believe it. We are so very sorry for your loss. We knew David since 2004 when he helped us build a beautiful new deck and a yard in San Francisco. He also helped our son remodeled a family room in their house. We saw David as late as last year in December when he told us that he was going to be a father for the first time. He was so very happy about that and so looking forward to be a dad.

We will always remember his good nature and relax manner and his SMILE. He was professional and easy to work with even when we encountered headaches during the construction period. He was just an all around nice guy. We will miss him greatly. Our hearts go out to Tika, his son and his family.

I feel so fortunate to have known and been friends with David. He was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt of his back and think nothing of it. I will always remember the many poker nights he hosted and our infamous annual golf outings in Las Vegas. Your free spirit lives on in all who knew you. RIP David!

I will remember Dave for his kindness and his enthusiasm for life, as well as his unrefined love, excitement and sheer joy over the birth of his son. Rest In Peace Brother.

Thank God for the wonderful people on this planet. David was one of them. Full of love and an enormous smile. Being a husband and father seemed to fulfill him. God bless his family and give them the strength to go forward.
