DORSEY FREDERICK DAVY

Dorsey Frederick Davy Passed away on November 17, 2011, in Carmichael, California, at age 89, of complications from hip replacement surgery. Dorsey was born in Burlington, North Dakota in 1922, and grew up on the farm of his parents, Don H. and Anna Moyer Davy. After serving in the Air Corps in WWII, Dorsey entered a long career in education, initially teaching high school math, science and agriculture, then operating teacher education programs at UC Davis and USF. From 1964 to 1970 and again in the 1980s, Dorsey worked internationally, in Bangladesh and Pakistan, as a part of the "Green Revolution". He completed his career in education as an administrator at SF State University. He retired to Santa Rosa, in 1985 and moved to Carmichael in 1998. Dorsey was an avid hiker and history buff. He took delight in crafting things with his hands. Dorsey worked with tireless energy, lived as a loyal friend, a popular instructor and caring mentor to his many students. He was an engaged, loving and effective parent. He is survived by sons Donn, Douglas and Steven, and by four grandchildren.
