Elizabeth O'Sullivan Obituary

Elizabeth Lawrence "Laura" O'Sullivan was born in Wales, Great Britain into a large Irish family. There was Mom (Madge), Dad, Pat, Gerald, Josie, Jackie, Peggy, Florence (Joe), David and and the youngest was Laura. The family lived in a small two bedroom cottage with a loft. They didn't have much, but there was always a kettle on for tea.Laura faced a great adventure as a young lady. She and her Mom (Madge) left Great Britain and journeyed to the United States on the Queen Mary. As Laura would say, "All I had on that trip was hope and a borrowed coat." Many of Laura's family eventually came to the United States and made a home in San Francisco where she went to Mercy High and eventually met and married Alexander "Buzz" Campbell Thomas. Laura and Buzz raised their two sons Scott and David Thomas in an Irish cottage in Marin County. The cottage was built as part of the 1939 San Francisco World Fair.Laura loved her job as Town Clerk for the Town of Ross and she was an active member of St. Anselm's Church.Following the death of her dear Buzz in 2006, Laura met and married Raymond Kolach. She moved to Paso Robles, California with Ray and lived on a beautiful piece of land where they grew grapes, made wine, and olive oil.Laura loved her morning tea and entertaining her friends and family. She was well known for her wonderful entertaining style. She loved to serve dinner on her Belleek China and Waterford crystal. Her parties were superb and will be missed.Laura leaves behind her husband, Raymond Kolach, her sons, Scott (wife Janet) and David (wife Janina) and grandchildren, Riley, Cole, Samantha and Sarah.

I will never forget Laura's welcoming presence in her job as Town Clerk in Ross. Her smile and warmth filled the room and she was always a joy to see. I know she will be sorely missed by her family--she was a shining star.

Laura was a welcoming, delightful presence at the Ross Town Hall for many years. Residents will remember her helpful, gracious, and kind nature and share regret at her passing. My sympathy to her family at the loss of this wonderful person.
