Flossie Berry Obituary

Flossie F. Berry
1905 ~ 2004
Passed away on Friday, November 6th, 2004 in Marin City, CA at the age of 99. She was born on March 2nd, 1905 in Charles County, Maryland. Flossie moved to Oakland, CA in 1946 after raising her niece Bernice Brown in Washington, DC. In May of 1949, she married into the family of Jesse E. Berry, Sr. and moved to Marin City, CA.
She was a founding member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Marin City, a long time secretary of the Marin City Homeowners Association, and a member of the NAACP and the Sausalito Lions Club.
Her husband, Jesse E. Berry, Sr., three brothers Lloyd W. Chase, Oliver Chase, and Herman Chase, and three sisters Pearl Chase, Adelle Chase and Hilda Chase, son Jesse E. Berry, Jr., and grandson Leon E. Parker, preceded her in death.
Flossie leaves to cherish her memory, niece Viola (Bernice) Brown (WA,DC); daughters Annie L. Smith (Sac,CA) and Magnolia Evans (Richmond,CA); granddaughters Lauretta Williams (San Francisco), Stella Cooper (Sac, CA), Leona Smith (Marin City), Sandra Phillips (Richmond, CA), Beatrice Rowe (Pinole, CA), and Nora Batiste (Richmond, CA); grandsons James A. Smith, Jr., (Vallejo, CA), Donald L. Smith (Mill Valley, CA), Wilbert Smith (San Rafael, CA), Anthony R. Smith (El Sobrante, CA), Delbert Henry (Berkeley, CA), Andre Henry (Richmond, CA), and James Williams (Sac. CA). Twenty-five great grandchildren, fourteen great great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Thursday, November 18th, 2004 at 11:00 AM, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 101 Donahue Street, Marin City, CA (415.332.1011).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund and the Friends of Marin City Library/Beyond Walls, 164 Donahue St., Marin City, CA 94965, 415.332.6159.
INTERMENT
Mount Tamalpais Cemetery
San Rafael, California
